Chapter 340 He Locked Laura Up

"Think you can just bail?" Matthew's deep, magnetic voice echoed behind her.

Mary stopped in her tracks and turned to face him. "What do you want?"

Matthew leaned against the car, fiddling with an unlit cigarette between his long, attractive fingers. His intense eyes were locked on her.

Mary squirmed under his gaze.

His eyes were like lasers, cutting right through her.

Just when she was about to crack, he looked away and started walking towards the Bluewater Bay Villa.

"Follow." He tossed out the command without even glancing back.

He wasn't worried she'd run.

She had no power, no connections and nowhere to go.

Mary clenched her fists. She had no choice but to follow.

But instead of heading into the fancy villa, he veered towards the garden.

Suspicion flickered in Mary's eyes. 'Why are we going this way? What's he up to?'

Her questions didn't hang in the air for long.

At the far end of the garden, there was a two-story building guarded by several bodyguards.

"Mr. Montagu." The bodyguards bowed when they saw Matthew.

"Open the door," Matthew ordered coldly.

One of the bodyguards pulled out a key and unlocked the door.

Mary, standing a bit further back, squinted into the darkness inside. She could make out someone sitting in a chair.

The sudden light made the person inside raise a hand to shield their eyes. Once adjusted, they jumped up and tried to bolt.

The bodyguards stopped her instantly.

Mary's eyes widened. It was Laura!

She pondered. 'Matthew locked her up? Isn't Laura his savior? Is this how he treats her?'

After two days in captivity, Laura looked pale and frail, like a strong breeze could knock her over.

"Matthew, you actually locked me up!" Laura's eyes were red as she glared at Matthew.

Matthew's face was stone cold. "Having fun?"

Laura shook with rage. "How can you do this to me? Even if you don't like me, I saved your life in that accident! How can you treat me like this?"

She looked at him, hysterical. She couldn't believe it!

Matthew, who once wanted to divorce Mary for her, had actually locked her up!

For two whole days, she hadn't seen any light!

The complete darkness was like hell, swallowing her whole!

She kept screaming for help, but no one came.

Laura was on the brink of collapse, and her prosthetic leg was glaringly obvious.

Matthew glanced at her prosthetic leg and said, "I found the doctor who treated you back then. You didn't need a prosthetic leg. Why'd you give up on your leg?"

Laura's body shook at his words! How did he find that doctor!

With a pale face, she said, "I don't know what you're talking about. We were both unconscious after the accident. How could I have given up on my own leg! Matthew, are you trying to dodge this debt of gratitude by saying such things? How can you do this? We were together for two years and were about to get married! I never did anything to wrong you. Why are you treating me like this?"

Listening to Laura's cries, Mary felt a sense of déjà vu. She had said similar things before.

Her complicated gaze fell on Matthew. Could he really be this heartless?
