Chapter 610 Just Being There Makes Him Feel Content
Mary's body stiffened as she wanted to struggle but held back.
In the end, all he wanted was her body. Everything that had happened before was just a prelude, and she was mentally prepared for it.
However, just when she thought he would make the next move, he simply held her for a long time.
Mary's body remained rigid, her lips pressed into a straight line.
Matthew could feel it. The living room was very quiet, so quiet that the sound of their intertwined breathing was very clear.
Matthew suddenly let go of her, his deep voice coldly saying, "Goodbye."
Mary was stunned, looking at him in surprise.
Matthew frowned, "What's that look? Disappointed?"
Mary suddenly stood up, "It's late, I'll be going now."
She hurriedly left.
Matthew watched her back until the door closed, cutting off his view.
He took out a cigarette, lit it, and the pale blue smoke shrouded his face, obscuring the expression in his eyes.
In Mary's eyes, perhaps he had always been pestering her just for sex.
He had indeed told her that before.
But today, he suddenly realized that simply being with her, even while watching boring TV shows, brought him a subtle sense of contentment.
This feeling was very similar to when he had lost his memory.
Matthew took a deep drag on his cigarette, suppressing the chaotic thoughts in his mind. Since he liked being with her like this, he would find a way to make sure she couldn't leave.
Mary returned home, still feeling a sense of unreality.
Matthew had actually let her go so easily.
How amazing.
This had never happened before.
Her feelings were very complicated.
Now, she couldn't understand Matthew's thoughts even more.
What exactly did he want to do?
After wasting an entire evening, he still hadn't said whether he would let Sean go.
Mary sighed softly, then went to the bathroom to take a shower.
The next day.
Matthew opened the door to see Mary standing at his doorstep, holding a food box.
"Good morning, I made breakfast for you," Mary said with a faint smile, handing him the food box.
Matthew suddenly walked past her to the window and looked outside.
Mary asked in confusion, "What are you looking at?"
Matthew replied, "I'm checking if it's really morning, if I'm dreaming."
Mary was silent and thought, 'I'm asking for a favor! I have to show some sincerity.'
The two of them couldn't always part on bad terms; that wouldn't be good for negotiations.
After so many times of clashing with him, Mary had come to terms with it, giving up the struggle. She would go along with his wishes as long as she could achieve her goal.
Matthew walked over, took the food box, and then walked into the elevator.
Mary followed him in and asked, "It's been a whole night, have you thought about it?"
Matthew replied, "Thought about what?"
When Mary saw his indifferent expression, as if Sean's issue hadn't crossed his mind at all, she felt a surge of anger rising in her chest.
Her good mood in the early morning instantly vanished.
"Can you stop targeting Sean? We're just friends," Mary said, trying to keep her patience.
