Chapter 376 Let's Just Forget About It!
Matthew grabbed her leg and gave it a squeeze, his breathing getting heavier.
Mary tensed up but quickly relaxed when he didn't do anything else.
She was really exhausted.
Kicking him out wasn't an option; he wouldn't leave easily, and making a scene would just make the neighbors laugh.
So, she gave up and just slept like that.
For the next few days, Mark didn't reach out to Mary.
Matthew got busy too. When she tried asking him about Gerald, he hung up the moment she mentioned it.
Clearly, he didn't want to talk about it.
Then Maria called.
Mary answered, "Hey, Ms. Diaz."
Maria's cheerful voice came through. "Hey, Ms. Smith, got time today? Let's grab a meal."
Mary thought for a second and agreed, "Sure."
Maria smiled. "I'll send you the location. Just come over."
"Okay."
When Mary arrived, she saw Maria already there, standing at the entrance looking relaxed. She smiled when she saw Mary.
"You got here fast," Maria said.
Mary replied, "I was nearby. This place looks nice."
Maria blinked. "Glad you like it."
They went inside.
They headed straight to a private room upstairs. The waiter brought an iPad, and Maria handed it to Mary. "You probably come here often, so you order."
Mary asked, "Anything you don't eat?"
Maria said, "I'm good with anything."
Mary nodded and started ordering.
After ordering, she handed the iPad back to the waiter, and the door to the private room was closed.
Maria looked at her and suddenly asked, "Didn't sleep well? You look tired."
Mary smiled and shook her head. "It's okay, just had some nightmares."
Maria nodded knowingly and then asked, "Have you thought about what we talked about before? I guess you're not in a rush to leave Lindwood City. If that's the case, why not work for me first? Whenever you decide to leave, just let me know. Don't worry, I won't hold back your salary."
Maria extended the invitation again, looking at Mary with sincere eyes.
Mary paused and said, "I'll think about it."
Maria smiled. "No problem. Call me anytime once you've decided. The primo spot in my studio is all yours!"
Mary chuckled, "So, are you saying I've got no way out but to sign up?"
Maria raised an eyebrow. "Well, I really hope you join my team."
Mary said, "Once I handle my stuff, if I decide to stay, I'll contact you."
She still needed a job and wanted to achieve certain goals.
The food arrived quickly.
They ate together, chatting about some gossip, and the atmosphere was pretty pleasant.
But midway through the meal, Mary's phone rang. She saw it was a call from Mark.
She stood up and said, "Excuse me, I need to take this."
Maria nodded slightly.
Mary stepped out of the private room and answered, "Hey, Mark."
Mark's voice sounded hesitant, and after a heavy sigh, he said, "Mary, I'm sorry about the Gerald situation. Since we can't see him anytime soon, let's just forget about it."
