Chapter 314 Both Exciting and Comfortable

Victoria was the only one at that table who wasn't scheming something.

She was just munching away, occasionally sharing bites with Mary, her eyes lighting up every time she looked at her.

Mary quickly pulled herself together and started eating quietly.

After the meal, Linda said, "Matthew, your room has been regularly cleaned. Why don't you take Mary upstairs to get familiar with it?"

"Alright," Matthew replied coolly, got up, and headed upstairs.

Mary trailed behind him; she had something on her mind to tell him.

His room was on the left side of the second floor. When he opened the door, the decor was a carbon copy of his office.

The black, white, and gray gave off a chilly vibe.

With the door shut, Mary couldn't care less about the room. She looked at Matthew and asked, "Why'd you agree to stay?"

Matthew shrugged off his suit jacket and tossed it onto the couch.

Hearing her question, he gave her a nonchalant glance. "Why not stay? It's been ages since I was last here."

Mary was stumped, bit her lip, and said, "But I don't wanna stay here."

Matthew shot back, "Then leave."

Mary went quiet, thinking, 'If I just up and leave, what would I tell Victoria?'

Victoria had been good to her, and Mary didn't want to let her down!

Matthew seemed to read her mind and said, "It's just one night. What's the big deal?"

Mary said, "I just think it's not right for us to stay together."

Hearing this, Matthew's face darkened. "Not right?"

Mary replied, "Well, we're about to get a divorce."

Unexpectedly, as soon as she finished speaking, Matthew walked towards her, his eyes cold and intense.

Mary immediately got on guard. "What are you doing?"

Matthew stopped right in front of her, staring her down. "So this is what you've decided?"

He thought, 'After all this time, she still wants a divorce?'

Mary lowered her eyes, her long lashes trembling, and said, "Matthew, I've thought it through. We can't go back to how we were. Marriage is supposed to be about feeling safe and comfortable, but that's just not us. I don't think it's been that way for you either. Maybe it's better if we go our separate ways."

As she said this, her eyes were sincere. She then looked up at him, clear and earnest.

Matthew looked at her deeply and said flatly, "You're wrong. I do feel relaxed."

Mary frowned, "When?"

Matthew said, "When we have sex,, it's both satisfying and relaxing."

Mary's face immediately darkened.

Mary cursed inwardly, 'Matthew, this shameless jerk! I'm seriously talking about divorce, and he says that!'

Seeing her angry expression, Matthew raised an eyebrow. "You seriously express your feelings, and so do I. Don't you feel good in bed?"

"Shut up!"

Mary didn't want to hear any more of his nonsense, her face growing even darker.

Matthew chuckled lightly. "Mary, I'm just being honest. You're getting mad. Aren't you being a bit too bossy?"

'Bossy, me?' She questioned inwardly.

Mary was so mad she couldn't even speak!

Seeing her puffed-up face, a faint smile flashed in Matthew's deep eyes. He said, "Alright, let's just drop it for tonight. Think it over. Next time we talk about this, you better have a really good reason to convince me. Otherwise, I'm not agreeing to it."

She mused, 'Convince him? He's so unreasonable; how could I possibly convince him! Matthew, this bastard!'

Mary didn't want to talk to him anymore and turned to leave.
