Chapter 678 Matthew Was One Step Ahead of Him
Roy's face turned grim, his grip tightening around the dagger in his hand, emotions swirling in his eyes.
"I don't know what you're talking about. I just want the money and to get out of here. This has nothing to do with anyone else!"
Robert was about to say something more when his phone rang insistently again.
He frowned, pulled it out, and answered, "Joan, what's up?"
Joan's crying voice came through, "Robert, come back, please come back. I'm hurt, it hurts so much."
Robert asked, "Did you call an ambulance?"
Joan cried harder, "I did, but Robert, I want to see you. I can only feel safe with you here. Can you come over now, please?"
Robert tried to stay patient, "Joan, I can't come right now. I have something to deal with. I'll come as soon as I can, okay?"
But Joan was relentless, "No, you have to come now! I need to see you right now. If you don't come, I'll have my grandpa cancel the deal with you. Robert, don't push me!"
Robert's eyes turned cold, "Fine, I'll come to you."
"Good, I'll be waiting." Joan said and then hung up.
Robert closed his eyes for a moment, then opened them and charged at Roy!
Roy had been on guard. Seeing Robert rush at him, he immediately pulled out a lighter, ignited it, and threw it towards the factory behind him!
The lighter instantly ignited the gasoline, and the fire spread rapidly, too fast for anyone to react.
"You're just asking for trouble!"
Seeing this, Robert punched Roy in the face, causing Roy to stumble and fall to the ground!
At that moment, the bodyguards who had been lurking around rushed in and subdued Roy.
Robert turned and ran towards the factory, but someone was faster!
He looked closely, his face darkening.
It was Matthew!
When did he get here?
How did he not notice?
Robert wanted to rush in again, but his phone rang once more. He glanced at it, stopped, and turned towards his car.
Inside the factory.
Mary watched in horror as the fire spread, quickly reaching inside the factory, with gasoline all around her.
She immediately started to wriggle, trying to escape.
But her hands and feet were tied. She struggled desperately, but only managed to move a little.
The fire was already spreading towards her, and her small movements were useless!
Her face showed fear and urgency. Was she going to die here today?
Just then, a figure rushed in, moving so fast that the flames flickered.
"Mary, I'm here. It's going to be okay."
Matthew saw Mary in the midst of the fire, quickly untied her ropes, and pulled her up to run.
The factory had been abandoned for over twenty years, and it had already been burned once over a decade ago. After years of weathering, there was fragile and could collapse at the slightest disturbance.
Roy must have done more damage. They had barely taken a few steps when beams and tiles started falling from above.
Matthew grabbed Mary, narrowly avoiding the falling debris.
His face was extremely cold. They were still deep inside the factory, and there was only one exit. They had to run for their lives!
