Chapter 111 I Like You the Most

Victoria's face twisted with anger the moment she heard the news. "That brat! I've told him a million times to treat his wife right, not like this. I'm calling him now!"

She grabbed her old-school flip phone, always hanging around her neck, and quickly dialed Matthew.

"Grandma," Matthew's smooth, warm voice answered.

Victoria glanced at Mary, who put a finger to her lips, signaling her not to mention she was there. "Matthew, where are you?"

"At home. Do you miss me?" Matthew replied.

"Yes. When was the last time you visited me?" Victoria asked.

"I've been busy, but I'll come over now," Matthew said.

"Good, I'll be waiting!" Victoria hung up and smiled at Mary. "Just wait; I'll get even for you!"

Mary hugged Victoria tightly. "Grandma, you're so good to me."

They had only met by chance, but Victoria had taken a liking to her, always smiling and being affectionate.

For Mary, who had never known family love, it felt amazing, like Victoria was her grandmother.

Victoria hugged her back. "Because I like you the most!"

Mary's heart softened, but she felt a pang of guilt. Was it right to use Victoria to get back at Matthew?

They strolled in the garden for a bit. As time passed, Mary said, "Grandma, when he gets here, don't tell him I'm here. I'll hide."

"Why?" Victoria asked.

"Otherwise, he'll think I tattled and he'll bully me when we go back!" Mary said.

"Okay, I won't say a word. I'll remember!"

"Then I'll hide now." Mary smiled.

"Alright." Victoria watched Mary hide, her eyes twinkling with a hint of mischief. She still remembered her mission: to teach Matthew a lesson.

He shouldn't have bullied Mary; he needed to be punished!

When Matthew arrived, he saw Victoria sitting in her wheelchair, a blanket over her legs, soaking up the sun.

His face darkened as he hurried over. "Grandma, are you left alone here?"

Victoria smiled at him. "Matthew, squat down."

Though confused, Matthew squatted down. "Grandma, what's wrong?"

Victoria's smile vanished, and she slapped him on the head.

"Grandma?" Matthew asked, bewildered.

Grabbing his ear, Victoria demanded, "Tell me, did you bully Mary?"

Matthew's usually handsome face twisted in pain. Dare not to struggle, he said, "No, Grandma, I didn't bully her."

Victoria tightened her grip. "If you didn't bully her, why hasn't she visited? You brat, how many times have I told you to be nice to your wife? If you don't, someone else will, and then she will leave you for good!"
