Chapter 477 Feeling Indebted to Laura

Mary stared at Victoria, totally taken aback.

She never thought the once kind and doting Victoria would now look at her with such cold, suspicious eyes.

Mary's heart ached.

Turned out, it wasn't just Matthew who could hurt her.

Being hurt by someone so close stung just as much.

She bit her lip, pulled out her phone, and called Matthew.

He picked up pretty quickly, and she heard his voice.

"Grandma's got something to tell us. Get to the hospital now," Mary said.

Matthew sounded confused, "What's going on?"

"You'll find out when you get here," she replied, then hung up.

Talking about the divorce needed both of them there. What was the point of just telling her?

She wanted out, but Matthew wasn't on board, and Victoria didn't believe her.

What did she do to deserve this?

Mary slumped onto the sofa, avoiding Victoria's gaze.

She had this thing about her—once someone hurt her, it was tough for them to get back in her good graces.

Victoria, not liking Mary's attitude, kept chatting with Laura.

She appreciated Laura's gentle demeanor and believed that a graceful and kind-hearted girl like Laura should be Matthew's wife.

Laura shot a smug look at Mary.

She was about to give up, but then this chance came along!

Victoria had snapped out of her fog and forgotten the past two years!

What luck!

Matthew might not listen to Richard, but he listened to Victoria.

With Victoria on her side, he'd definitely divorce Mary and marry her!

Laura's eyes gleamed with anticipation.

About 40 minutes later, Matthew walked into the hospital room.

Seeing Laura, he frowned, "What are you doing here?"

Victoria shot him a disapproving look, "Don't talk to Laura like that. She came to keep me company and cheer me up. You should be grateful!"

Matthew's face darkened, "Grandma, she is not my fiancée. Mary is my wife."

Victoria said, "I've already talked to her, Matthew. I don't care why you're with her; you need to divorce. You were the one who brought Laura to me, and she's always loved you. You can't let her down."

Mary looked at Matthew, her face calm, like she expected to be pushed into a divorce.

Matthew loosened his tie and said, "Two years ago, I had a car accident."

Victoria nodded, "I know, Laura saved you. She even lost a leg because of it. You should marry her."

After learning this, she felt Matthew owed Laura and had to make it up to her!

Whatever Laura wanted, she'd make sure it happened!

Matthew let out a cold laugh, "I became a vegetable and was in bed for a year. One day, I woke up on the street. I didn't know why I was there, but I knew someone didn't want me to wake up and wanted another accident to finish the job."
