Chapter 601 Herman is Getting Engaged
Mary took out her phone, "What are you standing there for? Call the police."
However, Shirley looked unfazed, "I've called the police before, but nothing was stolen, and the surveillance cameras were broken. It was useless."
Mary frowned, "But it's too unsafe like this. You should come stay with me."
Shirley said, "But what about the deposit?"
Mary's expression was very serious, "At a time like this, you're still worried about your deposit? Are you out of your mind?"
Shirley replied, "The deposit."
Mary ignored her words and started packing her things as soon as she entered the room. In no time, she had most of her belongings packed.
When she turned around, she saw Shirley still organizing her dolls and toys.
Mary was a bit exasperated, "You can move these things slowly later. Just take what you need for now."
Shirley hugged a stuffed animal and said, "This is very useful. I need to hug it to sleep at night, or I can't fall asleep."
Mary was speechless.
Shirley then hugged a carrot-shaped plush toy, "This needs to stay by my side, to be my solid fortress."
The two of them went straight to Maple Grove Manor.
Mary handed her a suitcase and said, "Pick any room you like and unpack your things. I'll go make dinner."
"Okay." Shirley agreed readily.
Mary shook her head helplessly. As she entered the kitchen, her phone rang again. She took it out and saw it was a call from Robert.
She then remembered that Robert had called her earlier, and she hadn't returned the call.
Mary answered the phone, her tone a bit apologetic, "Robert, I'm sorry for the delay. I was busy earlier but just wrapped everything up."
Robert said, "No problem. I just heard about Laura and called to see if you knew anything about it."
Mary responded, "I saw the news."
Robert asked, "Why was she suddenly kicked out of the Sarah family?"
Mary replied, "I don't know."
Robert pondered for a moment and said, "I thought you might know. I heard that Matthew pressured the Sarah family to abandon Laura."
After a pause, he added, "I thought it might have something to do with you."
Mary pouted, not wanting to reveal what had happened last night, and said, "I don't know. I only found out from the news this morning."
Robert said, "Alright, anyway, without her, your personal safety should be more secure. I have a meeting to attend. If you need anything, give me a call."
"Okay." Mary responded and hung up the phone.
Last night, something had happened before she left the club, so Joshua and Terry didn't show up immediately.
Mary shook her head, trying to push away the memories of last night.
After finishing cooking, Shirley had also unpacked and was sitting at the dining table. Mary pondered for a moment and said, "Shirley, I found out something about Herman."
Shirley asked while eating, "What is it?"
Mary said, "He's getting engaged to Joan Bailey."
Shirley paused mid-bite.
