Chapter 79 I Don't Want to Get Divorced Anymore
Mary looked at him as if she had heard a ridiculous joke, her face filled with disbelief. "Matthew, listen to yourself! What are you talking about?"
If he was here to interrogate her, he certainly had no right!
Matthew's gaze darkened as he stared at her, his aura sharp and oppressive.
It fell silent for a moment, a cold wind blowing through, chilling them to the bone.
Mary looked at his gloomy, handsome face and said directly, "Do you think Laura knows you came to see me?"
Her tone carried a hint of sarcasm.
How come she was the only one being judged?
Nonsense!
Matthew's voice was cold and deep, "You've always known about me and Laura. You also know why I want a divorce from you. But what about you and Robert?"
Mary's temper flared, "It's none of your business!"
Anger flashed in her clear eyes, "Matthew, it's almost dawn. Don't leave now. Let's go to the courthouse later today and file for divorce!"
When she was on the brink of danger, all she could think of was Matthew. She found herself truly hopeless.
Now, all he could see was her standing with Robert, and he jumped to conclusions. How ridiculous!
Matthew's expression grew even darker, "You're so eager to divorce me, and then what? Are you going to turn around and marry him? Mary, do you think he would want a remarried woman?"
Mary couldn't take it anymore and slapped him in the face.
"Matthew, I haven't wronged you!" Mary almost shouted, "I don't owe you anything! How could you say such things? If you had even an ounce of conscience, you wouldn't have delayed the divorce for so long, putting me in danger!"
Mary's suppressed emotions erupted in an instant. She screamed, tears streaming down her face.
The fear of being followed flooded her mind like a torrent, drowning her. She was still trembling with fear.
What if Robert had yet to show up in time?
She couldn't bear to assume that!
But after surviving such a terrifying ordeal, instead of receiving care from Matthew, she faced his questions and suspicions!
How dare he!
Gasping for breath, Mary desperately tried to breathe in fresh air, almost on the verge of fainting!
Matthew's tongue pressed against his cheek, a shadow crossing his gaze. As he watched Mary cry in a pitiful state, his heart suddenly clenched as if gripped by a giant hand.
"Are you afraid I'll endanger you?" His voice grew even colder.
Mary wiped her face with her hand, "Yes, I value my life. It's too dangerous to be with you. I can't bear it."
Matthew's face grew even darker, the shadows in his eyes deepening. His icy breath seemed to solidify, lowering the surrounding temperature.
He grabbed her wrist and suddenly smiled, "Since you're so afraid, I suddenly don't want a divorce anymore."
Mary was taken aback, "What?"
Matthew stared at her intensely, "As you said, anyone with me is in danger. Laura broke her leg trying to save me. I can't let her risk her life, so Mary, I don't want a divorce anymore."
"Shame on you!" She cursed angrily.
Mary's face burned with anger, and she raised her hand to strike him, but he grabbed her wrist.
"So, from now on, you'd better stay away from Robert. If I see you two together, I won't be happy," Matthew said coldly, then released her and drove away.
