Chapter 213 Discovered
Shirley's heart raced as she looked down and thought, 'Oh no! I'm going to get caught! '
But then she saw her phone was broken, the screen black. She didn't know whether to laugh or cry.
Herman frowned. "Why are you so nervous?"
Shirley, expressionless, replied, "I'm not nervous. Why'd you sneak up on me? Trying to ambush me?"
Herman stayed silent, looking at her with a complicated expression. "I just came to see if the meal was ready. I'm starving."
Shirley kept her face blank. "Couldn't you have texted? What if you fell? Would you blame me again?"
Herman rubbed his temples, thinking she was overreacting. "I don't want to argue."
He left the kitchen. Watching him sit in the dining room, Shirley exhaled deeply. She thought Herman had found out. She needed to be more careful; she couldn't let this scam get exposed.
Bending down to pick up her phone, she felt a pang. Her phone was totally wrecked.
Matthew drove straight to Maple Grove Manor when night fell.
Dressed in a black, custom-made suit, he looked cold and elegant. His sharp, handsome face showed no warmth as he pressed the doorbell. It rang for a long time, but no one answered.
He tried calling Mary, but no answers. Matthew thought, 'Mary blocked me again! That hateful woman!'
His lips pressed into a thin line, radiating coldness from his entire body.Just as he was about to lose patience, the door finally opened.
"Mary, you..." Matthew started, but his eyes turned icy when he saw who it was. "What are you doing here?"
Robert stood with his arms crossed, his short, purple-gray hair adding to his charm. He inquired. "I should ask you that. Why are you ringing my doorbell?"
"Your?" Matthew's eyes narrowed as he barged in, bumping Robert's shoulder.
Robert stepped back, a mocking smile on his lips. Watching Matthew head to the bedroom, he followed leisurely. "The house transfer was completed this afternoon. I'm the owner now."
Matthew searched several rooms but didn't find Mary. Even her clothes were gone. Hearing Robert's words, his face turned cold. "Where is she?"
Robert retorted, "Who?"
Matthew's eyes glinted dangerously, his cold aura pressing down on Robert. Though suppressed, Robert wasn't afraid. He sat on the sofa calmly. "Matthew, you're a guest. I won't argue, but don't let this happen again."
Matthew realized Mary had sold the house to Robert!
