Chapter 262 Clearly Very Happy

Matthew watched her storm off, feeling just as frustrated, yanking at his tie.

Things weren't always like this.

They'd been so happy over the past year.

Matthew closed his eyes.

Mary was back from shopping in an hour.

She laid out all the Lindenville specialties and said, "Eat up."

Matthew's forehead veins bulged with anger.

"Mary, are you doing this on purpose?"

Mary replied, "These are Lindenville's specialties. Look at this colorful string, isn't it pretty? You asked for them, and I got them."

She sat down in front of him. "Matthew, I did what you asked. If you're still upset, you're just being unreasonable."

Matthew looked at her coldly.

Mary was in a great mood, especially seeing him unhappy.

Just then, Matthew's phone rang. He answered, "Hello, Laura."

Mary's smile vanished.

Laura's gentle voice came through, "Matthew, are you still in Lindenville?"

"Yes," he replied indifferently.

Laura asked, "When are you coming back?"

"I'll return once things are settled here," he said.

Laura offered, "How about I come over to keep you company? I miss you, it's been so long."

Matthew looked at Mary. Seeing her expressionless, he almost agreed with Laura but said, "No need, I'm very busy and probably won't have time for you."

Laura said, "Alright then, let me know when you're back, and I'll come to meet you."

Matthew responded indifferently and hung up.

He stared at Mary, trying to gauge her reaction, but she remained indifferent.

Realizing this, his mood soured.

"I'm hungry," he said coldly.

Mary hesitated but couldn't refuse.

Cooking for Matthew was also a way of taking care of him.

She went to the small kitchen.

Matthew watched her cook, feeling his frustration ease a bit.

He picked up a woven colorful string and played with it.

In the afternoon, Lindenville leaders came to visit Matthew.

Seeing Mary, Rodolfo's eyes flickered but he said nothing.

Matthew explained the situation and upcoming inspections, assuring them work wouldn't be delayed.

While they discussed business, Mary went to the guest bedroom and fell asleep.

She didn't know how long she slept when she felt a tickling on her cheek. She waved her hand, frowning.

But the tickling continued, and she opened her eyes impatiently.

"What are you doing?"
