Chapter 742 That Must Be Brother-in-law
Seeing this, Mary decided not to rush Matthew anymore. She started the car and headed straight to the orphanage.
By the time they got back, it was completely dark.
David and a group of kids came out to greet her, their faces lighting up with smiles.
Mary said, "Alright, let's get this stuff unloaded."
She walked over and popped the trunk.
David looked surprised. "Did you go shopping?"
Mary replied, "Yeah, I had some time, so I picked up everything the orphanage needed."
"Thanks a lot, Mary."
The kids chimed in together, "Thank you, Mary!"
"You're welcome. I'm glad you like it," Mary said with a warm smile.
Just then, the passenger door opened, and Matthew tepped out, his figure tall and imposing.
The kids immediately hid behind Mary, not recognizing Matthew.
David's expression changed when he saw him. "Mr. Montagu, is there something you need here?"
"Yeah," Matthew nodded, his eyes on Mary, "I'm here to find my wife."
David was speechless.
Mary frowned slightly at him. "There are a lot of kids here, don't say things like that."
Matthew raised an eyebrow. "Didn't we get married? Didn't we get our marriage certificate? Aren't you my wife?"
Mary was momentarily at a loss for words.
A little girl tugged at Mary's hand, and Mary looked down at her. "What's up?"
"Mary, he called you his wife, so does that make him our brother-in-law?"
"That's right," Matthew's lips curved into a faint smile, his eyes approving as he looked at the little girl. "What's your name?"
The little girl blinked her big eyes. "My name is Clio Webb."
"Nice name. How old are you?" Matthew asked, chatting with Clio.
Girls naturally liked handsome and charming people, and Matthew seemed to fit Clio's idea of that perfectly. Seeing him smile at her, she wasn't as scared anymore and even walked over to chat with him.
"I'm eight years old."
Mary watched from the side, feeling quite speechless.
Ignoring him, she and David began unloading the items from the trunk.
The orphanage was brightly lit.
Because Matthew was so kind to Clio, the other kids gathered around him, their eyes filled with curiosity.
"What's your name?"
"How old are you?"
"Why didn't you come with Mary?"
"Are you really Mary's husband? But Mary doesn't seem to pay attention to you."
Meanwhile, David looked at Mary with concern. "Why did he come looking for you?"
Mary shook her head. "I don't know, and I can't stop him."
Both of them fell silent for a moment.
Mary glanced back into the room.
She saw Matthew holding a Rubik's Cube, his long, elegant fingers deftly manipulating it, and in no time, he had solved the scrambled puzzle.
This action amazed the kids, and they looked at Matthew with even brighter eyes.
Matthew smiled and handed the Rubik's Cube to a child, then glanced at the doorway, seeing Mary and David standing together, talking about something.
A cold glint flashed in his eyes, and he whispered something to the kids.
David continued to look at Mary's face, wanting to say more, but just then, a few kids ran over and pulled him away.
