Chapter 133 Instead of Changing the Locks, Just Sell the House
"Hey, Shirley, know anyone who sells high-tech locks?" Mary asked.
Shirley paused. "Didn't you just change yours? Why?"
Mary sighed, "Can't keep Matthew out. Gotta keep switching them."
After a moment, Shirley suggested, "Why not just move?"
Mary's eyes lit up, "You're right, let's move."
Shirley nodded. "I know a place. Maple Grove Manor's got a great spot. Lower the price a bit, and you'll get plenty of buyers."
Mary agreed, "Okay, let's do it. I'll finish work first, and we can discuss details tonight."
"Alright," Shirley said.
Mary got to the office and spent the day dealing with the Henry Group and checking the construction site. She was busy all day.
When she returned to the office, most people had already clocked out. She sat at her desk, had a glass of water, and called Shirley.
"Hey, Mary, done with work?" Shirley sounded excited.
"Yeah, just finished. Still at the office," Mary replied.
"I'll pick you up. We can have dinner and then check out the house," Shirley suggested.
Mary was surprised, "So soon?"
Shirley replied, "Why procrastinate? Let's get it done."
Mary chuckled, "You're right. Come get me."
"Sure thing." With that, Shirley hung up.
They met up, had dinner, and headed to the house. On the way, Shirley was already making calls.
After hanging up, she looked at Mary and said, "If all goes well, we can cut the deal today and sign the contract tomorrow. Then you can move somewhere Matthew can't find you."
Mary smiled, "You're amazing."
Shirley said, "I just don't want to see you stuck with Matthew. Why does he make things so difficult for you?"
Mary lowered her eyes, confused, too. Matthew had proposed a peaceful divorce, but now he refused to go through with it. What's wrong with him?
Twenty minutes later, a car pulled over.
"Here he is!" Shirley said, getting out of her car and calling out, "Mr. Williams, we're here!"
Mary got out and was stunned. "Robert?"
Shirley grinned, "Surprise. The buyer is Mr. Williams!"
Mary said, "But, Robert, you already have a house here."
Robert replied, "I don't mind one more."
Mary was speechless, while Shirley interjected, "Let's go see the place."
Robert nodded, "Sure."
Mary followed. When they exited the elevator, they saw Matthew at the door, entering the code.
"Why is he here?" Shirley frowned.
Mary stepped forward, "Can I help you?"
Matthew turned around, his suit jacket draped over his arm, his face cold and stern. His deep eyes swept over the group, "It's my home."
Mary frowned, "No, it's not. Don't come back again!"
Shirley sneered, "You're truly disgusting."
