Chapter 215 Going to Lindenville
Mary was super annoyed and mused, 'Why does Matthew call? What does he want? He is clearly on Laura's side, so why is he still bugging me?
Is he really going to be a jerk? Then, I'm not interested in dealing with that nonsense.'
Mary just turned off her phone and went to sleep, expecting to toss and turn all night. But surprisingly, she slept like a baby.
Meanwhile, in Linwood City at Montagu Mansion, Matthew was fuming after Mary hung up on him. He smashed his phone in anger.
Matthew thought in anger, 'How dare she run away? Does she think she could just escape everything? No way.'
Matthew calmed down and texted Maria.
Matthew: [Find out where Mary is now.]
Maria: [Tomorrow, I'm sleepy.]
Matthew: [Now!]
Maria: [You're awful, no girl will like you.]
Maria: [Location]
Maria quickly sent Mary's location, probably scared of Matthew's temper. For her, tracking someone's whereabouts was a piece of cake. As long as they didn't enter a dense forest, she could find them!
Matthew checked the map and narrowed his eyes at the name on it.
The next day, Michael handed Matthew a file. "Mr. Montagu, here's all the info on the Lindenville project. It used to be poor but boasts great natural resources. Turning it into a tourist spot could boost the economy. The leaders there really want you to visit."
Matthew skimmed the file and said, "Make the arrangements."
Michael nodded. "Got it."
Taking on this project would make DK Group the biggest investor in Lindenville's development, bringing a bunch of policy benefits. For Matthew, who had just returned to DK Group, this was a big deal. If he nailed it, it would set him up to inherit the Montagu family fortune.
Michael quickly set up the trip to Lindenville, and by the time they left, it was already afternoon.
Mary had breakfast and then wandered the streets, not in a rush to return to the orphanage. She hadn't been back in years and felt unsure about facing the director, Barbara Inome. She wondered how Barbara had been all this time.
Lost in thought, she heard a familiar voice.
"Mary?"
The voice was hesitant. She turned and saw a young man in a black hoodie and pants, looking surprised.
"It really is you. When did you come back?"
Mary was momentarily confused, trying to remember him. She hesitantly said, "David Garcia?"
"Yeah, it's me."
David nodded repeatedly, scratching his head. "I never thought I'd run into you here. Mary, you've changed so much. You're so beautiful I almost didn't recognize you."
