Chapter 755 It's Not Me

Mary's face lit up with joy.

She quickly asked, "Is the fire outside under control?"

North replied, "Yeah, it's contained. Open the door."

Mary wrapped herself in a damp cloth to protect against the flames before opening the door.

North, covering his mouth and nose with a wet towel, sighed in relief when he saw her.

"Mrs. Montagu, follow me!"

Mary then noticed the fire had spread from the kitchen, engulfing the nearby rooms with thick smoke billowing out.

David, who had woken up early, had already evacuated the children and was now using a fire extinguisher to combat the flames.

South and a team of bodyguards had connected hoses and managed to reduce the fire significantly, giving North the chance to get Mary out.

Mary's room was close to the kitchen, and if the fire hadn't been controlled, it would have reached her room soon.

"Mrs. Montagu, are you alright?" South asked as soon as he saw her.

Mary shook her head. "I'm fine."

South also sighed in relief and said, "Mrs. Montagu, please rest over there. We've destroyed the signal jammer, and we've called the fire department. Help will arrive soon."

Mary nodded, "Okay."

In the orphanage's yard, the children huddled together, their faces filled with fear as they stared at the fire.

Mary went over to check if any of the children were hurt.

Seeing that none were injured, she breathed a huge sigh of relief.

David, covered in soot, approached and asked, "Aren't you cold like that?"

Mary shook her head, "I'm fine. I was just preparing in case the fire spread."

As she finished speaking, she sneezed.

David said, "Don't stay like that. It's cold, and you'll catch a cold."

Mary thought for a moment, realizing he was right, and tossed the damp cloth aside, starting to exercise to warm up.

Soon, the sound of fire truck sirens filled the air.

The firefighters arrived and quickly brought the fire under control.

By the time everything was settled, dawn had broken.

North approached, followed by two bodyguards holding someone.

"What are you doing? Let Juliet go!" David immediately frowned.

Juliet was a cook in the cafeteria, and the children loved her food.

North, expressionless, said, "I checked the surveillance. Before the fire, she was acting suspiciously in the kitchen. When the fire started, she didn't leave and kept watching. I suspect she started the fire."

"I didn't! It wasn't me!" Juliet shook her head frantically, looking to David for help. "Mr. Garcia, I swear I didn't do it. I just came back to get something and then left."

David frowned. "Do you have any evidence?"

North replied, "She's the prime suspect for now. Finding evidence is the police's job."

He had already called the police.

David wanted to say more, but Mary interjected, "If you're innocent, the police will clear your name."

Juliet's face turned pale, and her plump body trembled.

Soon, the police arrived, and Juliet was taken away. David and Mary followed to give their statements.

South and North stayed behind to look after the children.

Looking at the group of kids, they both fell silent.

Taking care of children was not something they had experience with!
