Chapter 723 I Want to Practice Weaving Clothes
Mary glanced at the menu and raised an eyebrow. "You sure you're okay with me ordering the priciest stuff?"
Shirley waved her hand. "Go ahead, get whatever you want! It's on me."
Mary chuckled but kept it reasonable, picking only what she liked.
She called the waiter, handed over the menu, and closed the door again. Just then, a few people walked by outside.
Their eyes met briefly, and Mary fell silent for a moment.
Matthew, Herman, and Anthony.
What a coincidence.
The door closed completely, cutting off their view.
Shirley started talking about her new job, full of bright hopes for the future.
Mary watched her quietly and then said, "I'm thinking about quitting my job."
Shirley paused, then nodded. "That's probably for the best. Once the court case starts and you two get divorced, you'll be free of any ties."
Mary replied, "I hope it goes smoothly."
Shirley assured her, "It will."
Next door.
Herman looked at Matthew with a smirk and said to Anthony, "This guy had it all planned out. Did you see? Mary is next door."
Anthony, expressionless, glanced at him. "Are you two getting along now?"
Matthew's face fell at the question.
Anthony understood immediately. "So, it's still not working out."
"What's going on? Is there something I don't know?" Herman asked, puzzled.
Anthony didn't answer, sipping his water instead.
Matthew replied coldly, "Are you unhappy to be here?"
Herman laughed lazily. "Are you saying you did this for me? Should I thank you?"
Matthew replied, "No need."
Herman rolled his eyes and then asked, "Has Mary withdrawn the lawsuit yet?"
Matthew didn't respond.
Herman continued, "Then the court date should be set soon. What will you do then?"
Matthew's face was stern. "What court date? I don't know anything about it."
Herman raised an eyebrow. "Are you planning not to go?"
"I don't want a divorce. Why should I go?" Matthew retorted.
Herman teased, "Mary's really unlucky to have met you. She can't even get a divorce."
Matthew's gaze turned icy. "If you can't say anything useful, just sew your mouth shut. I've been wanting to practice knitting lately."
Herman laughed obnoxiously and turned to Anthony. "He's getting angry."
Anthony gave Herman a long look. "Your days are numbered."
Herman felt a chill and decided to drop the subject.
The soundproofing of the private rooms wasn't perfect.
If you listened carefully, you could hear what was being said next door.
Shirley, after a few drinks, got a bit bold and slammed the table. "I can't believe it! I keep dreaming about Matthew's protective face. I should never have gone abroad. Then you wouldn't have met him and brought him home!"
Mary looked at her flushed face and paused. "The jerk you're talking about is right next door."
"So what if he's next door? Even if he were right in front of me, I'd still curse him out," Shirley said boldly, showing no fear.
Mary served her some food. "Try this. See if it's good."
Shirley grabbed her hand, her eyes slightly glazed from the alcohol. "Mary, I can tell he's trying to make up with you. Will you forgive him?"
