Chapter 326 Seems to Have Fallen in Love with Me
Shirley was munching on some fruit.
Her shoulder was still healing from that gunshot wound, but it hurt now and then, making her wince.
When Herman walked in, she handed him the fruit pit. "Hey, can you toss this for me? Thanks."
Herman's face turned sour. "Do I look like your servant?"
Shirley gave him a look. "But the trash can's way over there."
Seeing her big, innocent eyes and thinking about her "feelings" for him, Herman sighed, walked over, took the pit, and chucked it in the trash.
"I'm heading back to Lindwood City," he said.
Shirley blinked. "Why so sudden?"
Herman sighed internally at her confusion. 'What do I do? She looks so worried about me leaving. Is she really that attached? But no matter how much she cares, I'm not hers!'
"Now that things are wrapped up here, I gotta go back. You staying here to heal or coming back to Lindwood City?" Herman asked, looking at her.
Shirley looked so pitiful; he felt he should take her back with him.
After all, she did take a bullet for him.
Even if he couldn't return her feelings.
But he'd stick around until she was better.
Shirley asked, "Did Mary go back?"
Herman nodded. "Yeah, she did."
Shirley said, "Then I'll stay here until my wound heals."
Even though Lindwood City was big and the chances of running into Mary at the hospital were slim, she didn't want to risk it and make Mary worry.
Herman nodded. "Alright, I'll get a caregiver for you here. If you need anything, just call me."
Shirley eyed him suspiciously. "Mr. Adams, why do I feel like you've changed?"
Herman raised an eyebrow, thinking, 'What does she mean? Does she think I look better today? Does she like me more? What do I do? Her feelings are so strong, I'm almost moved. But no, I can't be. My heart belongs to Snowy.'
Herman's face turned cold. "Shirley, I'm grateful you took a bullet for me. I'll help you if you ever need anything. But don't get any other ideas; I won't agree to them."
Shirley tilted her head, looking puzzled.
Herman stood up. "Get some rest. I'm out."
Then he left the ward.
Shirley lay there, totally confused about what just happened.
Just then, her phone beeped. It was a message from her secondary account.
Fool Adams: [What have you been up to? You haven't contacted me. Aren't you worried someone will steal me away?]
Fool Adams: [Lately, a woman has been all over me. She helped me a lot, and and I promised her something, but now it seems she's fallen for me.]
Fool Adams: [Snowy, don't you think this is a bit of a hassle?]
Snowy: [Mr. Adams, you're so awesome. It's no surprise someone would like you!]
Fool Adams: [What about you?]
Snowy: [Mr. Adams, please don't joke around. We're not in the same league. I need to work hard to pay tuition and cover my sick brother's medical bills. I don't have time for that.]
Fool Adams: [Your brother is sick? When did this happen? Why didn't you tell me?]
Fool Adams: [I just sent you $50,000.]
