Chapter 567 Stress Response

"Mary, your body is much more honest than your mouth."

Mary closed her eyes and said nothing.

Her body simply couldn't resist Matthew's teasing.

He knew her body even better than she did.

Mary's breath hitched, and she said, "Matthew, I have to go to work."

Matthew had no intention of letting her go. Seeing the corners of her eyes gradually redden, his smile deepened.

"What's the rush? You don't need to clock in."

As he spoke, his fingers moved, causing Mary to tremble and bite her lip.

But when she heard the sound of the belt buckle, her body stiffened, and her face turned pale.

"No, don't..."

The painful experience from last time filled her with fear. She began to resist his touch, not wanting to make love with him.

Matthew noticed her reaction and saw that she was trembling.

His eyes darkened, "Mary, are you toying with me?"

Mary was shaking heavily, her face growing paler, "No, Matthew, I don't want to continue..."

She hugged herself, "It hurts."

All his interest vanished in an instant. Matthew let her go, watching her curl up in the corner of the sofa as if that was the only way to alleviate her pain.

Matthew's face grew increasingly grim.

Every time he touched her, she reacted like this. How could they continue?

Matthew's expression darkened further, and he said, "Get yourself together and come with me to the hospital."

"I don't want to."

Mary's face was full of resistance. She bit her lip in shame, "As long as you don't touch me, I'll be fine."

Matthew looked down at her, "Stop dreaming."

With that, he turned and walked to the balcony, pulling out a cigarette and lighting it.

Mary closed her eyes in despair. As his presence moved away, her body gradually calmed down, and the deep-seated fear began to dissipate.

After a long while, Matthew came back from the balcony. Seeing her complexion improve, he said in a deep voice, "Come with me."

Mary still looked resistant, "I don't want to."

Matthew reached out and grabbed her chin, forcing her to look at him. He said coldly, "Mary, you need to understand that you don't have the right to refuse me. Either you behave and suffer less, or I won't mind using some methods to make you obedient."

Mary gritted her teeth, anger flashing in her eyes.

"Matthew, am I just a toy to you? Why are you doing this to me?"

Matthew caressed her face, his eyes growing darker, "How can you say that? You're my favorite woman."

Mary let out a cold laugh, "Hearing the word 'favorite' from your mouth taints its meaning."

How could someone who claimed to like her do so many hurtful things?

His "liking" was pathological!

Matthew said, "Think whatever you want. Now come with me."

Mary didn't move, still struggling.

Matthew was losing his patience, but just then, the doorbell rang.

They both looked toward the door. Matthew, recalling how Robert often came by, felt his expression grow colder, "Who would come this early?"

He walked over and opened the door, and sure enough, Robert was standing there, even smiling. But upon seeing Matthew, the smile faded.
