Chapter 274 Getting the Money
Mary asked, "Shirley, still chatting with Herman using a secondary account?"
Shirley replied, "Of course! After what he did, I need to keep getting money from him!"
Mary sighed in relief. "Good. I'll transfer the money now. After you give it to him, leave ASAP."
"Got it, thanks! Mwah!"
Shirley kissed her phone.
Mary hung up and transferred five million dollars to Shirley.
She suspected Herman had set Shirley up, but without evidence, Shirley was stuck.
What puzzled her was why Herman framed Shirley.
Shirley got the transfer and went to find Herman.
In the desert, sandstorms raged, blending sky and earth.
Shirley, wrapped up tight, only her eyes showing, arrived outside Herman's tent. She called out, "Herman, I'm coming in!"
She lifted the flap and walked in, eyes widening.
Herman was showering!
He wore shorts, showing his lean, muscular upper body. His short hair was wet, and he was toweling off.
Shirley quickly dropped the flap and stepped back outside.
She thought, 'Why is Herman showering now? Is he out of his mind?'
Inside, Herman saw her slender figure through the flap gap and chuckled, then frowned at the sand.
If not for Matthew, he wouldn't be here.
After dressing, he sipped water and said, "Come in."
Shirley walked back in, took off her scarf, revealing a bright face. "Give me your bank account, I'll transfer the money now!"
Herman raised an eyebrow. "Didn't you say you had no money?"
Shirley said, "I have money now, is that a problem?"
Herman said, "That vase was worth five hundred thousand dollars."
Shirley lifted her chin. "Bank account!"
Her proud look said: I don't need that much money!
Herman's eyes flickered. "But I didn't mention the interest. It's been a week. Let's double it. Total is one million. My account number is..."
"Are you robbing me?"
Shirley exclaimed, "Are you a loan shark? Even loan sharks don't charge that much! Doubling in seven days? Herman, did you set me up?"
Herman, amused by her anger, nodded. "Yes."
"You!"
Shirley pointed at him. "When did I trouble you to target me like this?"
Herman said, "Getting hit on the head with a fire hydrant hurts. Do you think I'm that forgiving? Just because you took care of me for a few days, I'd let you off?"
He walked towards her. "Matthew spoke up for you then. I let you go because of him. But now you've broken my vase. Do you think I'll let you off with all this?"
