Chapter 769 Really Like?
Mary's face froze for a moment. She closed the box and said to South, "I really like it."
South nodded. "Great, I'll let Mr. Montagu know. Enjoy your meal, Mrs. Montagu."
With that, South turned and left, but not before giving Kurt a look that sent a chill down his spine.
The door closed again.
Mary stayed composed as she looked at Kurt, who was now visibly uneasy.
"So, you're Mrs. Montagu. Sorry if I was out of line earlier," Kurt said, clearing his throat, trying to smooth things over.
Mary replied calmly, "No need to be so formal. I'm your designer now. If you have any requests, just let me know."
Kurt thought to himself, 'What more could he possibly ask for? But...'
Kurt's eyes flickered for a moment. "About the initial draft you mentioned earlier, I thought it over. Your design is exactly what I want. No issues. Just go ahead with your initial inspiration and show me the final draft when it's ready."
Mary raised an eyebrow slightly. "Are you sure you don't want to reconsider? We can discuss it together."
"No, no, I trust your ability. Your designs are very creative. I'm sure the house you design will be amazing," Kurt said, waving his hand with a smile.
Mary nodded. "In that case, I'll go back and continue working on the drawings. Enjoy your meal, Mr. Lowe."
"Sure, sure, take care."
Kurt didn't try to stop her. As soon as she left, he wiped the cold sweat from his forehead.
He knew Matthew was married, and some people in their circle had met his wife, but he hadn't!
He never expected that Mary was Matthew's wife!
Kurt had planned to gain some benefits while completing the task. Now, he was anxious about the whole thing.
He took out his phone and made a call.
Kurt said cautiously, "Ms. Cooper, Mary is Matthew's wife. I'm afraid I can't handle the task you gave me. Maybe you should find someone else?"
Rebecca let out a cold laugh. "Kurt, your wife and kids are abroad. Are you not considering them when you say you don't want to do this?"
Kurt immediately responded, "Ms. Cooper, there's no need for this. We're just business partners. What you're doing is threatening me!"
Rebecca replied, "Yes, I am threatening you. So what?"
"You!" Kurt was furious. But he couldn't fight back. She had him by his weak spot!
Rebecca continued, "Kurt, follow my instructions. Once the job is done, I'll reunite you with your family. We'll all be happy. If you don't do as I say, none of us will have a good time."
Kurt clenched his fist. "I understand."
Mary stepped out of the club and found that it was snowing!
The snowflakes fell gently, quickly covering the buildings in a white layer. Under the lights, the falling snow looked especially beautiful.
A Phantom pulled up and stopped by the curb. The driver got out, nodded slightly at her, and opened the back door.
Mary, holding the box, walked over, bent down, and got in, meeting Matthew's smiling eyes.
"Do you really like it?"
His gaze fell on her hand, noticing she wasn't wearing it, and his brows furrowed.
Mary handed the box to him. "It's beautiful, but I don't need it."
