Chapter 600 Keychain
Mary furrowed her brows and said, "It is quite strange. Did you change the locks?"
Shirley nodded, "Yes, but it didn't help. Are thieves these days really that skilled at picking locks?"
Mary was amused by her words but still said, "It's so unsafe here. You should find a new place to live."
Shirley sighed as she sat on the couch, "I would, but the landlord won't return my deposit. It's a lot of money."
Mary looked at her helplessly, "How much longer until the lease is up?"
Shirley paused for a moment, "One more month. I'll move out after this month."
"Okay, That's for the best." Mary nodded.
But why do thieves always break into Shirley's place?
The first time a thief broke in was when Mary started living here.
She couldn't figure it out and got up to check what ingredients were in the kitchen.
Seeing this, Shirley asked, "Weren't we going to your place?"
Mary said, "I'm already here. Why go to my place? Isn't that a hassle?"
Shirley grabbed a stuffed animal and hugged it, looking at her with a half-smile, "Are you trying to avoid Matthew?"
Mary looked at her, "You're so smart."
"Of course," Shirley said proudly, raising her chin. "But why were you two hiking together?"
Upon hearing this, Mary's eyelashes fluttered. She hadn't told Shirley what happened last night. If Shirley knew, she would definitely go after Laura.
"He lives downstairs from me. We accidentally met when I was leaving, and he insisted on taking me hiking," Mary said.
Shirley said, "He is crazy."
Mary pouted and said, "I'm so unlucky to have met him."
Shirley sighed, "What's worse is that I met someone like that too."
Mary closed the fridge and said, "Let's go buy groceries. Your fridge is empty. What do you usually eat?"
Shirley walked to a cabinet and opened it, revealing various flavors of canned food to Mary.
"These. Just tell me what flavor you want. I have them all!"
Mary was speechless. She was even more determined to take Shirley to the supermarket.
The two of them went out. As Shirley locked the door, she looked at the keychain in her hand and asked, "Mary, where did you buy this keychain? It's a bit worn out, and I want to buy a new one."
Mary took it and examined it closely, a look of confusion on her face, "I don't think I ever bought a keychain like this."
It was a simple, round keychain with a star pattern on it.
Shirley said, "How is that possible? You gave me the keys when you moved out, and this was on them."
Mary thought for a moment and shook her head, "I don't remember. Maybe I just bought it randomly."
Shirley didn't think much of it, "Alright then."
She put the keys in her pocket, and the two of them got into the elevator.
The supermarket wasn't far from the apartment complex. They walked for ten minutes, bought their favorite fruits and vegetables, and then took a cab back home.
But as they stepped out of the elevator and saw the door open again, both Mary and Shirley were shocked.
"This..." Shirley was dumbfounded.
