Chapter 106 No One Else Could Get in

After dinner, Mary cleaned up the kitchen and then went to the guest bedroom to shower and sleep, where she had a peaceful night.

The next day, when Mary emerged from the guest bedroom, Matthew was no longer there.

Standing in the living room, Mary thought for a moment that she needed to change the locks.

At the very least, the next time Matthew couldn't come in, the property manager couldn't help him either.

Decisive as ever, Mary immediately called, and the locksmith arrived soon to change the locks.

This time, she ordered a fingerprint combination lock, the password of which was known only to her and Shirley.

No one else could get in.

After the locksmith left, she looked at the lock with satisfaction and then texted to Shirley.

Mary: [Shirley, this is the password for my door lock. Keep it in mind.]

Shirley called her immediately.

"You've upgraded to a fingerprint combination lock," Shirley remarked.

Mary opened the door and walked in, smiling. "You won't have to knock when you come over from now on. Isn't that great?"

"Indeed," Shirley's voice sounded lazy, indicating she had just woken up.

Mary thought for a moment and asked, "Are you free today?"

Shirley replied, "Yes, any plans?"

Mary explained the situation to her.

Shirley suddenly perked up. "Robert? From the Lindwood City's renowned Williams family? Are you serious?"

Mary confirmed, "Yes, and he's the one from the bar that night, the one I dragged into drinking with us."

Shirley gasped, then said, "I never would have thought he was from the Williams family."

Mary asked, "Is there any story with the Williams family?"

Shirley replied, "Which wealthy family doesn't have one? Despite the others, isn't that bastard Matthew full of stories?"

Mary's tone turned cold. "Can we not talk about such a disgusting one during this happy time?"

"Sure," Shirley agreed. "I'll come over now. Let me tell you about the Williams family's story."

"Alright." Mary ended the call.

Shirley arrived soon after Mary prepared breakfast.

Sitting at the dining table, Shirley took a bite of the pancake. "Hmm... Mary, if you ever quit, selling pancakes would definitely be a hit. They're so delicious!"

Mary replied, "I'll give it a try the other day."

Shirley chuckled and then asked, "What time are you meeting Robert?"

Mary answered, "At 10 o'clock."

Shirley said, "You still have time."

After taking a sip of milk and clearing her throat, Shirley appeared ready to give a lengthy discourse.

Mary looked at her attentively.

"It's said that Robert is the illegitimate son of the Williams family, who returned in recent years. He has a fiery temper and is unruly, whom the Williams family can't control. He isn't interested in the family business but is particularly keen on things like racing, bars, and casinos."

Mary blinked. "Where did you hear all this from?"

"I know someone in the Williams family," Shirley replied.

Continuing, Shirley said, "Despite being an illegitimate son, the leader of the Williams family is particularly fond of him. Even if he causes trouble, the family leader takes care of the aftermath. However, the family leader's wife doesn't like him, and I've heard he has survived several assassination attempts."

Mary fell silent.

Even at Matthew's side, she never knew when she might be killed, not to mention Robert.

Shirley changed the topic. "However, if you end up with Robert, it's definitely better than being with that bastard Matthew. At least Robert's family genuinely cares about him."
