Chapter 737 Why Is It So Hard to Get a Divorce?
David opened the door again and saw that the dozens of bodyguards who had been there earlier were now all lying on the ground, defeated.
Only two men stood among them, looking disdainful. "Is this all they've got?"
Mary saw them too and was a bit surprised.
These two men looked ordinary, the kind of people you wouldn't notice in a crowd.
They were dressed in plain clothes and had an unremarkable demeanor.
When the two men saw Mary, they nodded slightly and said respectfully, "Good morning, Mrs. Montagu."
Mary pursed her lips. "And you are?"
The man in the black hoodie replied, "I'm South Wilson, and this is my brother, North Wilson."
Mary was silent for a moment before asking, "As Matthew's subordinates, do you all share the same last name?"
First there was Sam, and now South and North. Were there more of them?
South grinned, showing his canines. "We're all orphans. Mr. Montagu thought it was too much trouble to give us different last names, so we all share the same one."
Mary was even more puzzled. "But you look about the same age as Matthew. How did you end up working for him?"
South explained, "Mr. Montagu met us when we were kids, and we've been with him ever since."
So that was it.
North, looking impatient, said, "Enough chit-chat. Let's go."
With that, he turned and walked away.
South quickly gave Mary an apologetic look. "Sorry, we have to go. If you need anything, you can contact me."
Then he ran after North.
"Are you crazy? How could you talk to Mrs. Montagu like that? Have you forgotten what happened to Sam?" South caught up with North, his expression serious.
North didn't respond, just quickened his pace.
South sighed helplessly and the two continued to find a vantage point to secretly protect Mary.
David pointed to the people lying on the ground. "What about them?"
Mary looked at them and asked, "Who sent you? What do you want?"
But the lead bodyguard didn't answer. He got up, gave Mary a cold look, and walked away. The others followed suit.
Mary's expression grew serious.
These people wouldn't reveal their identity, but they were here for Barbara. It seemed they wouldn't give up until they found her.
David said, "They're gone. Let's go inside. You haven't eaten yet, right? Join us for breakfast."
Mary nodded and went back into the orphanage.
After breakfast, she glanced at the time and couldn't help but sigh.
It was too late.
Even if she had wings, she couldn't make it back in time.
Seeing her worried expression, David asked, "What's wrong? Is something bothering you?"
Mary yawned. "Is there a spare room? I'm exhausted and need to rest."
"Yes," David nodded and led her to an empty room.
Mary said, "I'll take a nap. If anything comes up, wait until I wake up."
David replied, "Alright, rest well. No one will disturb you."
The door closed.
Mary sat on the bed and informed her lawyers of her situation, then sighed helplessly and lay down.
She had thought Matthew wouldn't show up, but who would have guessed it would be her who didn't make it!
Why was getting a divorce so difficult?
Matthew had arrived at the courthouse early. He even had a brief video conference with Michael, but the entire morning passed without Mary showing up.
He stood up and said calmly, "The plaintiff isn't here, so let's call it a day."
