Chapter 736 Someone Has Taken Your Identity

"What did you just say?" Mary frowned at Barbara.

Barbara spoke urgently, "I know a lot, a whole lot. Just get me out of here, and I'll tell you everything, Mary. That amazing life, it was supposed to be yours! Someone stole your identity!"

Mary felt overwhelmed and looked at David.

Someone stole her identity?

David said, "Looks like you really can't let her go. It's not that you couldn't find your birth parents; someone took them from you, Mary. You need to figure this out."

Mary blinked.

She could have found her birth parents.

She could have.

Did someone know about this in advance and take her place?

"Who? Who is this person?"

Anger started to rise in Mary's heart.

She wasn't an orphan!

Barbara had known all along but never told her, and even tried to get rid of her!

Why?

Why would Barbara do this to her?

Seeing Mary's emotional shift, Barbara calmed down and said, "Get me out safely, make sure those people can't find me, and I'll tell you. Otherwise, you'll never know."

Mary's face fell.

Barbara was so shameless!

And right now, Barbara was the only one who knew.

Just then, there was a loud knock at the front door.

A child ran over, nervously saying, "Mr. Garcia, there are a lot of people outside."

David's expression changed, "They're here again."

He turned to Mary, "Let's go out and lock this place up."

Then he looked at Barbara and said, "If you don't want to get caught, stay quiet."

Barbara nodded immediately, even covering her mouth.

David and Mary went out, locked the door, checked it again, and then walked towards the entrance.

David opened the door, his face cold as he looked at the black-suited bodyguards outside, "What do you want?"

The bodyguard said, "We're looking for someone. Move aside, or this orphanage won't be open for long!"

David said, "You guys are really overbearing. Fine, I'll call the police."

The bodyguard sneered, "You think calling the police will help?"

David hesitated. Their attitude was so arrogant, it seemed like the police wouldn't be of any use.

What now?

"Open the door!"

The bodyguard started kicking the door, acting very aggressive.

David's face turned grim, "This is an orphanage, full of kids. You'll scare them!"

"What's that got to do with us?" The bodyguard said indifferently, kicking the door even harder.

Mary stood behind, her face looking troubled. Just then, her phone rang. She picked it up and saw an unknown number.

"Who is this?"

She answered, puzzled.

"Mrs. Montagu, I'm your bodyguard. Do you need assistance?" A stern voice came through.

Mary was taken aback. Only Matthew's people would address her like that.

He had been secretly protecting her all along!

For a moment, Mary felt a mix of emotions. Meanwhile, the people outside were still kicking the door, which was old and about to give way.

"Yes, please help." Mary said.

"You're welcome." The other person replied and then hung up.

In no time, cries of pain could be heard from outside the door.
