Chapter 11: If You Don't Agree, I'll Cry
All of a sudden, Victoria was enraged before Matthew could say anything else.
"Divorce? No way! My granddaughter-in-law is so wonderful, you can't divorce her!"Full of grievance on her aged face, Victoria grabbed Matthew's hand and said, "Matthew, if you dare divorce her, I will cry. I will for sure."
As she spoke, Victoria actually started crying! What a scene! No one could react.
A look of astonishment flashed in Matthew's eyes as he watched Victoria crying more and more intensely. He was so afraid that if she kept shouting like this, it would harm her health.
Matthew quickly said, "Grandma, I won't divorce her. Don't worry."
Victoria stopped crying instantly, "Seriously?"
Matthew nodded, "Yes."
Victoria said, "If so, bring her home tonight so that the whole Montagu family can meet her!"
Matthew didn't know how to respond.
Victoria continued to play hard to get, "If you say no, I'll cry again!"
Linda, standing aside, laughed and said, "It seems your grandma really likes Mary. Matthew, Why don't you reconsider? Marriage is no child's play."
Matthew's thin lips pressed into a straight line.
Mary was there the whole time, feeling so touched. An old lady she had never met before liked her so much, yet Matthew insisted on divorcing her. That girl, was she really that amazing? Could she make Matthew, who had regained his memory, immediately fall for her again? Mary suddenly became curious about what kind of memorable story Matthew and that girl had in the past.
When Victoria calmed down, Matthew turned to Mary, "Let's go."
With her eyelashes fluttering, Mary turned to Victoria, "Grandma Victoria, take care of yourself. I'll come visit you when I am available."
Victoria nodded, looking at her eagerly, "You must come, okay?"
"Okay."Mary's heart softened uncontrollably. What an old lady, so adorable!
Outside the hospital, Matthew said directly, "You are occupied and can't visit today. That's what you will tell Grandma Victoria and the others later."
Mary froze. It seemed like he didn't want to take her to the Montagu family.
"What if I don't?"
Matthew stared at Mary's face with his dark eyes, "Mary, you have gone too far. It will hurt you in return."
Mary smiled, "Last time I checked, we're not divorced, right? Now that you've found your family, isn't it natural for you to take me to meet them? Or do you want to take someone else?"
Matthew stared at her deeply, and then suddenly smiled, "Fine, I'll take you."
His sudden change in attitude stunned Mary. A glimmer of hope rose in her heart; meeting his family meant he acknowledged her. Maybe he didn't want a divorce anymore?
Mary tried so hard to get herself under control, her almond eyes fixed on Matthew, "You are not lying, are you?"
Matthew replied, "I don't lie."
Mary's lips curled into a mocking smile, "You've lied to me quite a few times."
Matthew was speecheless for a moment and then turned and walked away.
Mary stared at his tall, straight back and called out, "Don't forget to come pick me up!"
Matthew didn't respond, and Mary pouted. What a douchebag!
However, with the thought that she would soon meet Matthew's family, Mary was still very happy!
Back home, Mary began to pick out a dress and even put on makeup. In the mirror, Mary looked elegant and beautiful, poised and graceful. Would Matthew's family like her Surely?
Mary was excited. Soon, her phone rang. She picked it up, and it was Matthew.
