Chapter 400 Take Me to the Hospital
Shirley's struggles started to ease up.
Despair bubbled up inside her.
Next thing she knew, her arm was yanked, and she fell into a cool embrace.
"Let's keep you tied up for now. Even if I untie you, nothing good's gonna come out of your mouth," Herman said casually.
Herman carried her to another car, set her on the seat, and started untying the ropes around her wrists while dialing Matthew's number.
He remarked, "Matthew, I found her. Yeah, I got those guys too. I'll send them over. Make sure you grill them properly."
"Got it." Matthew's voice was cold and indifferent on the other end.
Shirley, still groggy but somewhat aware, paused when she heard this.
She thought, 'Wait, didn't Matthew send his men to grab me? Then why did those bodyguards say it was Mr. Montagu's orders?'
Just then, the tape on Shirley's mouth was ripped off, and the sharp pain snapped her back to full consciousness.
She gasped, her face going pale.
Herman looked at her and chuckled, "Does it hurt that much?"
Shirley, still blindfolded, snapped back, "Try it yourself. It won't kill you, but it'll hurt like hell."
Herman replied, "Forget it, better tape your mouth back up."
Shirley fell silent and swiftly dodged. With her hands now free, she hurriedly removed her blindfold.
She saw Herman sitting across from her in the extended luxury car, which was decked out with everything. The seats were so comfy she almost wanted to roll around on them.
She squinted, exhaled, and asked, "Wasn't it Matthew who sent people to capture me?"
Herman said, "Why would Matthew capture you?"
Shirley pouted, "To threaten Mary. It's not like he hasn't done that before."
Herman was surprised. "He's done that before?"
Shirley replied, "You didn't know?"
Herman leaned back casually. "I really didn't. If I had known, he wouldn't have been able to do it."
He would have definitely intervened to stop Matthew because he knew that Matthew didn't want to divorce Mary, and he believed that this method was the worst possible choice.
Shirley rubbed her wrists, pursed her lips slightly, and then looked at him. "Can I borrow your phone?"
Herman asked, "Why?"
Shirley said, "To call Mary. I told her earlier that it was Matthew's men who captured me. She must be freaking out right now."
Herman squinted his eyes at this.
He smirked mockingly and said, "You've fallen into the trap. If I hadn't found you, what would have happened next?"
Shirley looked at him, confused. "What are you talking about?"
Herman said, "Forget it, you wouldn't get it even if I told you."
Shirley fell silent.
Herman was still as infuriating as ever!
She was quiet for a while, then her brows furrowed as the effects of the drug in her body started kicking in again.
A blush appeared on her cheeks, and her eyes got hazy. She looked at him and asked, "Herman, take me to the hospital."
Herman looked at her, silent for a long time, then dialed a number and asked, "How to deal with aphrodisiac effects?"
The person on the other end said, "Take her to the hospital before the effects kick in. If the effects have already started, either soak in cold water or have sex."
Herman frowned. "If the effects have started, is it too late to take her to the hospital?"
"Yes."
Herman cursed under his breath and hung up.
By this time, Shirley was already in a daze.
