Chapter 81 Is the House Going to be Repossessed?
"Never mind, let's not think about that for now. Let's move first." Mary couldn't think of any other solution, so she decided not to dwell on it.
Shirley nodded in agreement, "You finally get to live in that big house you've been dreaming of. That's a good thing."
Mary smiled.
Carrying a bag filled with toiletries, she headed straight to Maple Grove Manor with Shirley.
At the entrance, Mary was stopped by the security guard and had to register before entering.
Mary felt relieved. At least the man from last night wouldn't be able to come here for her.
The apartment Matthew gave her was on the 31st floor, the main door of which was extremely luxurious and exquisite.
Mary unlocked the door and was amazed by the scene inside.
As they entered, the security guard called Michael. "Mr. White, Mrs. Montagu is here."
"Okay, I got it," Michael replied.
After hanging up, he informed Matthew of the matter.
"Hmm," Matthew remained indifferent, showing little reaction.
Michael hesitated and asked, "Mr. Montagu, should we reclaim the house since the check had been frozen?"
Matthew raised his eyes, his cold gaze meeting Michael's.
Michael inexplicably felt a chill creeping up.
Michael wondered, 'Had I said something wrong?'
Freezing the check was Matthew's order.
He was following Matthew's line of thought, wasn't he?
"Um, I have something else to attend to, so I'll be going now." Michael replied as he hurriedly turned and left. It was after he left the office that the chill gradually subsided.
Shirley threw herself on the leather sofa, sighing comfortably, "This is the life of the rich."
"Shirley, don't be modest, you're wealthy too," Mary said.
Shirley waved her hand, "My wealth isn't worth mentioning."
Mary's mouth twitched slightly, but she didn't continue.
The house was already furnished, so all she needed to do was bring in essentials for living.
Matthew had a bad character, but he got great taste. At least Mary really liked this house!
Mary immediately decided to go shopping. Now that she had a lot of money, she would get rid of the old stuff. She didn't want them anymore!
"Let's go cash the check first," Mary said gleefully.
Shirley nodded, "Mary, I'll do the laundry, cook, and sleep with you. Please take me in."
Mary tilted her chin, "Gorgeous, you don't need to do all that. Sleeping with me is enough!"
Shirley playfully tapped her chest, "Naughty!"
The two of them went to the bank with the check, only to be told that it had been frozen!
Mary couldn't believe it. "Frozen?"
"Yes, the check was frozen by the signer, so you can't withdraw the money. If you have any questions, you should contact the signer." A bank staff replied.
Mary walked out of the bank holding the check, feeling dazed!
Shirley didn't know what to say either. "I've seen jerks, but never one like this. Matthew won't divorce or give the money? What does he mean?"
Mary took out her new phone and called Matthew.
However, as soon as she called, he hung up.
With anger, she continued to call, but Matthew kept hanging up persistently.
She was so angry that she almost smashed her phone!
Just then, Mary's phone suddenly vibrated. She picked it up and saw a message.
Matthew: [Come back to work, or I'll deduct your salary.]
