Chapter 66 If I Die, Will You Follow Me in Death?
Matthew said, "If you don't get up soon, I might be in trouble."
Mary quickly got up, and it was then that she noticed his left hand was bandaged and suspended on his chest, with his forehead wrapped in gauze, looking quite comical.
It seemed like all external injuries.
Mary let out a sigh of relief and then looked at him. "You're fine. Why didn't you say so earlier?"
Innocently, Matthew blinked his eyes. "Your crying woke me up."
Originally still unconscious, Matthew's consciousness had gradually awakened in a haze, and he heard her crying uncontrollably.
At that moment, his heart trembled fiercely.
He didn't disturb her, just quietly watched her cry over a stranger's body as if she was crying her heart out.
He was worried about her, so he struggled to get up. Just as he did, he saw her about to fall, and he quickly reached out to support her.
Mary suddenly looked away and wiped her face with her hand.
At that moment, a nurse walked in and saw them facing each other, asking in confusion, "What are you doing?"
Mary said, "Well, I'm his next kin. Is he okay?"
The nurse asked, "Name?"
"Matthew Montagu."
The nurse flipped through the records in her hand and said, "There is a minor fracture in his left arm, four stitches on his head, but still there is a possibility of a mild concussion. We are keeping him in the hospital for observation for a few days."
Mary nodded quickly, "Okay."
Mary arranged for his hospitalization, returned to the ward, and saw Matthew already lying on the bed. When he saw her come in, his dim gaze fell on her face.
Thinking about her embarrassing situation earlier, Mary glared at him. "What are you looking at?"
A hint of a smile appeared at the corner of Matthew's lips. "Mary, what if I really died?"
"Seriously?" Mary said with a stern face, looking displeased.
At that moment, she was really scared to death. She didn't dare to think about what she would do if he really died.
Matthew said, "I'm just curious. After all, you cried so miserably. Will you die for love?"
"For you?" Mary reacted as if she had heard a joke. "That would be so stupid! You're not worth it! If you died, I wouldn't even need a divorce. I'll live in a Ranch-style house with tens of millions of dollars and then find a cute boyfriend. Isn't that better?"
She pulled a chair and sat down, starting to imagine this wonderful life.
"I'll date some cute guy this day and travel with him the next day!"
The smile at the corner of Matthew's lips gradually faded as he softly said, "If I were to die, would you not miss me at all?"
The anticipation on Mary's face vanished in an instant. She stared at him with slightly swollen eyes.
After a while, she finally spoke, "Matthew, if I were to really go out with another man, would you be jealous?"
If he got jealous, it would mean that he still had feelings for her.
In that case, the past year between them would have meant something after all.
However, Matthew coldly replied, "Let's talk about it until I am dead."
Mary was speechless.
What was the point when he was dead?
Mary wanted to lose her temper, but looking at Matthew's pale face, she ultimately held back.
Forget it!
For the sake of him protecting her, she wouldn't hold this against him!
