Chapter 410 Meeting at the Club
Jessica hopped in the car and took off.
Matthew turned to Mary, his eyes going icy. "Got nothing to say?"
Mary just shrugged. "Say what? Apologize to her?"
A smirk crept onto her face.
Matthew found her attitude infuriating. His brows knitted together, and the air around him seemed to chill.
"Mary, she's a partner at DK Group. You're my wife. If you hurt her, it's like I hurt her. How do you think we should handle this?" Matthew's voice was heavy.
"I didn't hurt her. She pinched me, and I just shook her off," Mary said, frowning. "Matthew, if you think I did it on purpose, then I have nothing to say. But apologizing to her? No way."
Her tone was frosty, and her gaze at Matthew grew even colder. She turned and walked away.
He watched her leave, his eyes darkening.
After a week apart, she didn't show any concern for him and now didn't even want to look at him.
Matthew's mood soured, a dark cloud hanging over him.
Mary headed back to the barbecue joint.
Shirley had left earlier but rushed back after getting Mary's message. Seeing Mary safe, Shirley let out a sigh of relief.
"Mary, you have no idea how worried I've been. I was afraid that jerk Matthew would side with that woman and hurt you," Shirley said, looking at her.
Mary replied, "That didn't happen."
Shirley said, "Good. Let's not dwell on it. Let's enjoy the food!"
"Okay." Mary nodded.
After eating, they each went home.
But just as Mary got in her car, her phone rang. It was a business partner wanting to discuss some design details and needed to meet now.
Mary frowned. "Can we do it tomorrow instead? It's pretty late, and I don't want to interrupt your evening."
The client said, "Tonight's better. I'm free now, and I'm on a business trip tomorrow."
Since it was a signed client, Mary couldn't refuse. She checked the time and said, "Alright, I'll come to you. Where are you?"
The other person said, "No. 9 Club."
It was a high-end entertainment spot.
Mary agreed and told the driver to head to No. 9 Club.
When she arrived, a waiter led her to a private room on the sixth floor.
The private rooms at No. 9 Club weren't for just anyone. The lower five floors had a minimum spend, while the sixth and seventh floors were for VIPs. The seventh and eighth floors were mostly for shareholders and their friends, not open to the public.
Mary knocked on the private room door.
Felix Reed, the project manager from Evercrest Properties Inc., their business partner, opened the door.
"Mr. Reed, I'm not late, am I?" Mary smiled when she saw Felix.
Felix shook his head. "No, you're right on time. Come in."
There were other people in the room, and various drinks were laid out, clearly a party.
Mary glanced around briefly and then looked away, sitting in a corner.
Felix sat next to her and said, "I reviewed your draft. The ideas are good, but the practicality is lacking. I have a few suggestions. How about this?"
Mary took out her phone, turned on the recording, and quickly started taking notes.
