Chapter 476 Find a Time to Get the Divorce Done
After leaving the hospital, Matthew turned to Mary and said, "Don't stress about it. She just lost her memory from the past two years."
Mary looked at him and asked, "What if Grandma insists you marry Laura?"
Matthew stared at her intensely, "Mary, you need to drop that thought. I'm not divorcing you."
Mary sighed, "Honestly, there's nothing wrong with us getting a divorce. I..."
"Enough!"
Matthew snapped, "Don't you get it? If you bring up divorce again, I won't hesitate to lock you up!"
His eyes grew darker, and the air around them seemed to chill.
Mary paused, not saying another word.
Because she knew he meant it.
She turned and walked away, her expression growing colder.
Matthew watched her leave, his lips pressed into a thin line.
He got into the car, his face still stormy.
Just then, his phone rang. He saw it was Maria calling.
"What is it?"
Maria was startled by his icy tone and swallowed, "Mr. Montagu, I found something, but the guy's really sneaky. I can only tell it's a man."
Matthew narrowed his eyes, "Send me what you got."
"Yes, sir."
Sensing his mood, Maria didn't dare to joke around. She quickly sent over all the info.
Matthew then asked, "Is Sean behaving?"
Maria replied, "Yes, he's behaving. With me watching him, Mr. Montagu, you can relax."
Matthew said, "Keep an eye on him."
"Will do."
Matthew opened his email and looked at the info Maria had sent, which included two blurry photos.
In a dimly lit hallway, a shadowy figure stood at the elevator entrance, clearly raising a hand to press the elevator's open button.
At that moment, Mary was inside the elevator. Luckily, she didn't step out.
If she had, who knew what could've happened!
Matthew's face darkened. He sent a message to Sam, telling him to keep protecting Mary.
In the hospital, Victoria's condition was getting more stable.
After learning about the past two years, she didn't get too emotional.
Two days later, she suddenly asked Linda to contact Mary.
Mary was at work when she got the call and felt a bit puzzled.
But she still went to the hospital.
Even though Victoria was cold to her now, she had been genuinely kind to her before.
"Grandma."
Entering the ward, Mary saw the people inside, frowned slightly, but still greeted them.
Victoria responded indifferently and then said, "This is Laura, Matthew's fiancée. Mary, I don't know how you and Matthew met, but there's a proper order to things. A granddaughter-in-law not acknowledged by me isn't part of the Montagu family. Since you and Matthew haven't been married long, you should find time to get divorced. You're a good girl and shouldn't mess up someone else's relationship."
Laura sat by the bedside, holding Victoria's hand, with a gentle smile on her face.
Mary listened to these words, her hand clenched slightly, and then she said, "Grandma, you're overthinking it. I've always wanted a divorce; it's Matthew who refuses. You should talk to him."
Victoria frowned upon hearing this, "What do you mean? Do you think I'm a fool? How could Matthew not agree to a divorce? Did you say something to him?"
Her gaze at Mary grew more disdainful.
