Chapter 95 She Must Marry Matthew
Laura stood in front of the mirror, admiring her slender figure. She smiled satisfactorily, but when her gaze fell on the prosthetic leg, a hint of disgust flashed in her eyes.
She had given up so much to be with Matthew. She had to marry Matthew, and Matthew could only be hers!
Matthew arrived soon, and Laura greeted him with a smile, "Matthew, you're here."
"Hmm," Matthew replied and walked in, changing his shoes without much acknowledgment.
Laura's eyes sparkled with anticipation, but throughout the encounter, his gaze never lingered on her.
She bit her lip and asked, "Matthew, do you like my new outfit?"
She twirled in front of him.
Only then did Matthew glance at her briefly and ask, "What do you want to talk about?"
Laura's disappointment was evident. Didn't he notice how she had dressed up for him? Why was he so indifferent? Was he like this in front of Mary?
"Let's eat first, and we can talk after," Laura composed herself and headed towards the dining room.
Matthew followed her, his gaze landing on her prosthetic leg, his eyes darkening slightly.
Laura poured two glasses of red wine, placing one in front of him and another herself.
Sitting next to him, she smiled brightly, "Matthew, thank you for taking care of me before. I'll toast to you."
Matthew didn't pick up his glass and said, "It's what I should do."
Laura pursed her lips lightly, "Have we been apart for so long that you've become distant? You weren't so cold to me before."
Her eyes teared up slightly, "Matthew, have you fallen in love with Mary? Do you not want to divorce her?"
Matthew's brow furrowed, "Stop overthinking."
He raised his glass, clinking it against hers.
The crisp sound of the glasses clinking echoed, the deep red wine swaying in the transparent glasses mirroring Laura's emotions.
She took a sip of wine, her eyes fixed on Matthew.
"Matthew, I know we've been apart for almost two years, so it's natural for you to feel distant. But I hope you can be more patient. Let's get to know each other again, okay?" Laura said.
Matthew pursed his thin lips, remaining silent.
Laura smiled brightly, "Of course, if you've truly fallen for Mary, I'll bless you both. As for my leg, don't worry about it. Saving you was my choice, and I don't need you to feel responsible."
She displayed kindness and understanding to the fullest.
Matthew's brows furrowed, "Laura, I will take responsibility for you. Stop overthinking."
Laura pondered, 'If that's the case, why doesn't he divorce Mary?'
Laura heard Mary say that it was Matthew who refused to divorce.Laura wanted to ask him why he refused to get a divorce, but she sensed that Matthew seemed to prefer something other than this topic.
She had finally managed to invite him over for dinner at her home, and she couldn't miss this opportunity.
They drank wine and had dinner.
The atmosphere was slightly more harmonious than before.
As night fell outside, Laura reached to turn on the lights, but they flickered and went out.
"Ah!" She screamed in shock. "Matthew!"
Matthew's deep, magnetic voice reassured her, "It's okay, I'm here."
