Chapter 738 Matthew Is in a Particularly Good Mood
The judge and lawyers present were all feeling helpless.
How could they proceed with the trial if the plaintiff wasn't there?
They had all assumed the defendant wouldn't show up, but what happened?
Quite the opposite.
Matthew got into the car, feeling cheerful. Michael asked, "Mr. Montagu, where are we headed?"
Matthew replied, "Lindenville."
"Yes, sir."
Michael immediately understood that Matthew was going to find Mary.
With the trial failing, Matthew was undoubtedly overjoyed and eager to boast about it to Mary.
The weather was clear today, and even the dogs by the roadside seemed particularly pleasing to Matthew.
Rebecca received a call from her subordinates. Hearing the report that they couldn't get into the orphanage, her face turned grim.
"How could you not get in with so many people? What's going on?"
Her subordinate explained, "Just as we were about to enter, two people suddenly appeared. They were very skilled and took us down directly. We didn't dare to confront them head-on, so we left quickly."
"Useless!" Rebecca snapped, her face grimmer.
She angrily hung up the phone, her eyes filled with a sinister gleam.
Barbara, that wretched woman, dared to run away!
She should have killed her the moment she saw her!
Just then, there was a knock on the door.
"Who is it?"
Rebecca turned sharply, her face full of vigilance.
Joey's gentle voice came through, "Rebecca, it's me."
Hearing the familiar voice, Rebecca quickly composed herself, walked over to open the door, and threw herself into Joey's arms.
"Joey."
Joey was slightly taken aback and quickly asked, "Rebecca, what's wrong?"
Rebecca clung to him tightly, "I had a nightmare. It was so scary. Joey, can you stay with me?"
Joey gently patted her back to comfort her, saying, "It's okay, it was just a dream. I'm here."
Rebecca's agitated mood gradually calmed down. She asked, "Joey, did you come to see me for something?"
Joey replied, "I'm planning to go to Lindenville. There's some development going on there, and there's a piece of land I want to check out."
Rebecca's eyes flickered, and she quickly said, "I want to go too. If you leave, I'll be bored alone in Lindwood City."
Seeing her pitiful expression, Joey smiled indulgently and nodded, "Alright, let's go together."
"Joey, you're the best!"
Rebecca's mood brightened.
Mary slept until the afternoon. When she opened her eyes, she looked at the unfamiliar surroundings, feeling somewhat unreal.
She sat up, glanced at the time, and sighed heavily.
Mary opened the door just as David was walking towards her.
Seeing she was awake, David smiled and asked, "How did you rest?"
Mary nodded, "Pretty well, very quiet."
She could hardly hear the noise of children.
David said, "I took the kids out to play, giving you plenty of time to rest."
"Thank you," Mary said gratefully.
David replied, "No need to be so polite. The kids really liked the things you brought and said they want to give you something."
Mary was slightly surprised, "Give me something?"
David nodded, "Yes, you'll find out soon enough. Are you hungry? Do you want to eat?"
Mary shook her head, "I want to check on Barbara."
