Chapter 772: Kiss Me
Mary's face went blank.
Matthew stood up and said, "I made breakfast. Want anything else?"
He was being overly considerate.
Mary walked into the dining room and saw the breakfast spread on the table.
Was Matthew making breakfast early in the morning?
She couldn't picture that.
"No, this is fine," she said.
Matthew sat down next to her and started eating.
After breakfast, Mary headed out the door and noticed something new near the corner of the wall—a camera. She looked up and saw it was a surveillance camera.
Noticing her gaze, Matthew said, "That's the visible camera. There's also a hidden one. Give me your phone."
Mary looked at him suspiciously. "Why?"
Matthew replied, "I'm going to download an app so you can see the surveillance footage on your phone."
Hearing this, the suspicion in Mary's eyes disappeared, and she handed him her phone.
Matthew quickly installed the app and handed the phone back to her.
Mary checked it out, opened the app, and sure enough, she saw herself and Matthew on the screen. The image quality was exceptionally clear.
Mary looked at him. "How much did this cost?"
Matthew raised an eyebrow. "You want to pay?"
Mary said, "I don't like owing people."
"In that case, how about a kiss?" Matthew pointed to his cheek.
Mary's expression instantly turned cold, and she walked away.
Matthew chuckled softly. "Don't you hate owing people? Won't it bother you if you don't repay this favor?"
Mary said expressionlessly, "It's not as bad as I imagined."
Matthew raised an eyebrow, looking at her beautiful face, his eyes glinting.
Mary went straight to the vineyard, starting to measure data and plan. She needed to build a rough model in her mind and then input it into the computer for further refinement.
Two days flew by in a blur of work.
One morning, Matthew showed up at her door.
Mary came out, brushing her teeth, looking at him in confusion. "What's up?"
Matthew said, "Did you forget what you promised me?"
Mary thought for a moment. "Where are you taking me?"
Matthew replied, "To a lively place with lots of good food. You don't need to do anything, just be my date."
Mary looked at him skeptically. Could it be that simple?
Matthew said, "You don't have to look at me like that. I won't lie to you."
Mary looked away and didn't close the door, so Matthew followed her inside.
After she finished getting ready, Matthew said, "I'm taking you to try on dresses and get styled."
Mary paused. If he wanted her to be his date, it must be for an important event, so she needed to dress up. She didn't say much more.
By the time they finished picking everything out, it was almost ten o'clock.
The Rolls-Royce Phantom slowly pulled up to a seven-star hotel. Mary immediately noticed the life-size cutout at the entrance.
Her expression froze. It was Robert and Joan's wedding photo!
She turned sharply to Matthew. "The important event you mentioned is Robert's wedding?"
Matthew looked at her intently. "That's right. Aren't you friends? Isn't it bad form not to attend his wedding?"
He acted like he was doing her a favor, but she knew he was just there for the drama!
