Chapter 176 Standing on the Rooftop

Sam rushed Laura to the hospital, who was so scared that she cried until she passed out.

Sam had already caught the kidnappers. Under intense interrogation, they confessed that a woman named Mary had orchestrated the entire plot.

Matthew couldn't believe it at first, but then a recording surfaced, making the impossible real.

As Matthew remained silent, Laura's eyes welled up with tears.

"Matthew!" Laura, tearful, said, "I won't blame you for falling in love with someone else. But not someone so malicious. A person like her doesn't deserve to stay by your side!"

Matthew looked at her. "You need rest. I'll have Sam will take you home and keep you safe."

Laura pointed at Mary. "And her? What are you going to do about her?"

Mary's lashes fluttered. She looked at Laura. "Believe it or not, I didn't do this."

Laura's eyes burned with hatred as she glared at Mary. "Mary, I used to be grateful because you saved Matthew. But now I have to wonder if you knew his identity all along and that's why you went out of your way to save him and marry him. You deceived him!"

Mary frowned. "I didn't."

Laura wiped her face, but tears kept falling. She turned to Matthew. "What are you going to do about this? Are you going to let her off again? She had me kidnapped and wanted me dead. If she hates me so much, I might as well die now!"

With that, Laura ran out of the ward.

"Laura!" Matthew was shocked and chased after her.

Mary felt uneasy and followed too.

Laura, somehow finding the strength, broke free from the bodyguards and ran to the hospital rooftop. She stood at the edge, swaying.

"Laura, don't do anything stupid!" Matthew's eyes widened in fear. Sam and the bodyguards rushed up, all looking worried.

Laura turned, her long hair whipping wildly in the wind, and gave Matthew a sad smile. "Matthew, I love you. I fell deeply in love with you two years ago. Remember? You promised to marry me. Then you had an accident, and I saved you with all my might, losing a leg. I thought we'd be happy when you woke up. But I never expected her to appear!"

She pointed at Mary, her voice full of sorrow. "Two years ago, we were fine. How did she change everything? You promised to divorce her. Why didn't you?"

Taking a deep breath, tears in her voice, she continued, "Matthew, with all she has done, you can't even give me a proper answer. Am I not important to you anymore?"

Matthew's face was dark, his eyes fixed on Laura. "Don't do anything foolish. Come down, and I'll give you an answer."
