Chapter 311 If Samuel is Alive, You Should Hand over the DK Group to Him
Samuel Montagu was Richard's second kid.
He got snatched and unexpectedly died that year.
Matthew dropped his gaze, his good-looking face showing zero emotion. He casually put the document on the table and said, "Dad, what's this all about?"
Richard took off his glasses and said, "This is from a letter someone sent me, Matt. There's a chance Samuel's still kicking."
Matthew shot back, "But I saw Samuel die right in front of me. No way I got that wrong. Someone probably faked the handwriting. Don't get played, Dad."
Richard rubbed the bridge of his nose and said, "But you were just a kid back then, right? Are you sure you remember it all?"
Matthew's eyes darkened, and his lips pressed into a tight line.
Richard said, "Go check it out. What if Samuel's still alive? That'd be the best outcome."
Matthew looked down at the document again. It was a photocopy, with just a few words on it.
Not even a full sentence.
Super easy to fake.
But Richard was convinced Samuel was still alive.
Because if Samuel was alive, the Montagus wouldn't need Matthew.
Richard walked around the desk, got close, and said, "You're not as sharp as Samuel. If you find him, bring him back. It's better to let him manage the DK Group."
Then he walked out of the study.
Matthew let out a light scoff, a mocking look on his face.
His eyes were dark, and the chill around him got even colder.
In the garden, Mary made a flower crown and put it on Victoria's head.
Victoria was thrilled but stayed still, scared the crown would fall off.
Mary noticed and laughed, "Grandma, if you like it, you can take it off and play with it. If it breaks, I'll make you another one."
Victoria said, "No way, I can't break it. This is a gift from you, and I'll treasure it!"
Mary felt really touched.
She didn't know Victoria that well.
But Victoria really liked her.
Whenever Victoria saw her, she wanted to give her the best of everything.
Mary couldn't help but wonder, 'Is this how parents treat their kids?'
She couldn't feel it; she didn't have kids yet.
A trace of loneliness flashed in Mary's eyes.
She didn't know when she'd have her own kid.
Every time she was with Matthew, he used a condom.
He didn't want kids.
She never thought about it, but Victoria's words reminded her.
Matthew didn't want kids but wouldn't divorce.
Mary mused, 'Matthew is really a walking contradiction.'
Just then, a servant came over and said dinner was ready.
Mary said, "Grandma, let's go back and eat."
"Okay." Victoria nodded, and then the flower crown fell off her head. She quickly caught it and held it in her arms.
Mary looked at her and couldn't help but laugh.
Back in the villa, Mary saw Linda and Richard and politely greeted them.
"Mr. Montagu, Mrs. Montagu."
Victoria heard this and immediately frowned, saying, "How can you call them that? You should call them Dad and Aunt Linda, just like Matthew."
Mary paused.
Richard's face showed no expression as he went straight into the dining room.
Linda smiled and said, "Yes, that name feels too formal. Mary, you and Matthew are married. You should call me Aunt Linda, just like Matthew does."
