Chapter 343 Learning About Shirley's Injury

That was totally her keychain.

"Thanks a bunch." Mary grabbed the keychain and gave the guy a nod.

The driver waved it off. "No problem, just drop a good review."

"Sure thing." Mary turned and headed back home.

After all that drama, her appetite was gone.

She pulled out her phone and saw a text from Robert.

Robert: [Breakfast was awesome, did Matthew flip out?]

Mary couldn't help but grin.

Mary: [No worries, as long as you enjoyed it.]

Robert: [No need to come over at noon, get some rest.]

Mary: [Got it, I'll swing by in the evening.]

Robert probably had stuff to handle at noon, so she could chill and plan her next move.

She couldn't just sit around.

Even though she had enough cash to live easy forever, that kind of life would be boring.

She wanted to be loaded!

Mary scrolled through job listings but nothing clicked, so she decided to call Shirley.

Shirley was up and about but couldn't do anything too intense, or her shoulder would still hurt.

"What kind of gig are you looking for?" Shirley asked, curious.

Mary shrugged. "Not sure, just checked some listings and nothing seemed right."

Shirley said, "Hey, didn't the Henry Group CEO think you were great? Why not send your resume?"

Mary paused. "Yeah, I'll think about it."

The Henry Group was definitely worth a shot.

Plus, they knew what she could do, so it shouldn't be too hard.

"Ms. Hill, time to change your dressing." A voice came from the other end of the line.

Mary sat up straight. "Shirley, what happened to you?"

Shirley sighed; she didn't expect the nurse to show up right then!

"Don't stress, just a little injury, I'm at the hospital for a dressing change, I'll be fine in a few days." Shirley quickly reassured her.

Mary got serious. "Send me your location, I'm coming over now. Why didn't you tell me you were hurt?"

Shirley was taken aback and quickly said, "Really, no need. I'm almost better. Aren't you still cooking for Mr. Williams? If you come see me, you won't be able to cook for him."

Mary frowned; she felt like Shirley was hiding something.

Shirley laughed. "I'm really fine, don't make a big deal out of it, okay?"

Mary said helplessly, "Shirley, if something's up, you gotta tell me, don't keep it from me."

"Okay." Shirley agreed right away.

"Then go get your dressing changed. If you don't feel comfy there, come back, and I'll take care of you and cook you yummy food every day," Mary said.

Shirley said, "You're making me drool. I'll come back ASAP, wait for me!"

"Okay."

"Okay." After hanging up, Mary was still worried. 'Shirley used to be with Herman. So, does Herman know she's hurt?' she thought.

But she didn't have Herman's number.

Mary thought for a bit and dialed Matthew's number.

In the cold-toned office, the vibe was super tense. When Herman walked in, he saw Matthew looking like someone owed him a fortune.

"What's eating you? Pissed off again?" Herman pulled out a chair and plopped down across from him, asking straight up.
