Chapter 633 I Understand, It's a Surprise

Mary tightened her grip on the bag, a hint of surprise flashing in her eyes, and asked, "How do you know?"

Herman laughed directly and then said meaningfully, "I understand. Are you perhaps preparing a surprise? Okay, I won't ask anymore."

Mary looked bewildered.

However, on second thought, since they were in the same social circle, it wasn't surprising that Herman knew about Robert's birthday.

Mary didn't say anything further; she didn't have a good impression of Herman and had nothing to talk about with him.

Herman, however, took out his phone and sent a message to Matthew.

Herman: [Guess who I saw in the elevator?]

Matthew: [Who?]

Herman: [Your ex-wife!]

Matthew: [What brings her here?]

Herman: [But she was carrying a bag, probably a birthday gift for you. But how did she know we were having a birthday party here today?]

Matthew: [Are you guys together?]

Herman: [Yeah, in the elevator.]

Matthew: [Okay.]

Herman: [What do you mean by that?]

But no matter what he sent next, Matthew didn't respond.

Herman was at a loss for words regarding Matthew's behavior.

Fortunately, the elevator soon arrived. Herman walked out first, followed by Mary.

Seeing this, Herman was even more convinced that Mary was here to celebrate Matthew's birthday.

She had said she didn't like him before, but now she was actively coming to celebrate his birthday. Women were really hard to understand!

Herman pushed open the door to the private room and walked in, only to catch a glimpse of Mary walking ahead.

"You..." He instinctively wanted to say something but then thought, 'maybe she is just going to the restroom? Women always need to touch up their makeup. Forget it. She'll come over later.'

Herman entered the private room, and everyone else was already there. Matthew looked up at him.

To be precise, he was looking behind him, only to find no one there.

Herman laughed unceremoniously, "Are you waiting for Mary? She went to the restroom to touch up her makeup; she should be here soon."

Matthew's expression remained cold and indifferent as he said lightly, "Who said I was waiting for her?"

Herman picked up a grape and ate it, "Fine, you're not waiting, I'm waiting, okay?"

Matthew gave him a cool look.

Herman hurriedly exclaimed, "I'm waiting to see what gift she brought."

Matthew's expression softened a bit.

However, as time passed, everyone else had arrived one after another, but Mary still hadn't shown up.

Herman was idly scrolling through his phone when he suddenly widened his eyes at a photo in the group chat. He looked at Matthew, then at the photo, and was instantly stunned!

"Are you out of your mind?"

Matthew glanced at him casually and asked when he saw his expression.

"This..." Herman hesitated.

Matthew said, "Just say whatever you want."

Herman gritted his teeth and threw the phone to him, "See for yourself!"

Matthew took the phone and immediately saw a photo, a screenshot of a post.

It was from Robert.

Robert: [Thanks to Mary for the birthday gift, I really like it.]

Below was a picture of a gift bag with clothes faintly visible inside.

And at the bottom was the posting time, just half an hour ago.
