Chapter 167 Pretending Not to See

Mary paused, then ignored Michael and walked past him.

Michael took a deep breath and followed her. "Ms. Smith."

Mary stopped. "What do you want?"

Michael pulled out a document and smiled. "It'd be good for both you and Mr. Montagu if you sign these."

Mary's face darkened as she eyed the papers. "So, you'll keep sending these until I sign? And keep targeting me at work?"

Michael replied, "Yes and no. I didn't tell anyone to target you."

Mary couldn't accuse him falsely.

She said coldly, "If it's not you, then Matthew. Same difference."

Michael stayed silent. Should he explain?

He thought for a moment, and decided to talk to Matthew first; otherwise, if he acted on his own, Matthew would be unhappy.

He handed the document to Mary. "Ms. Smith, please sign this."

Mary took the papers. Michael got nervous, fearing she'd tear them up again. But she just walked away.

"Hey, Ms. Smith?" Michael hurried after her. "Where are you going?"

Mary replied coldly, "Since it's about divorce, I need to talk to him face to face."

Michael hesitated. "But, Mr. Montagu..."

Before he could finish, Mary got into a taxi.

Michael fell silent. He pulled out his phone and called Matthew. "Mr. Montagu, Ms. Smith is coming to talk to you about the divorce."

Matthew hung up without a word.

At the hospital, Mary arrived outside Matthew's ward and was stopped by bodyguards.

"I'm here to discuss the divorce. Please inform him," Mary said coldly.

The bodyguards exchanged glances. One went inside and soon came back, signaling Mary to enter.

Mary clenched the divorce agreement, walked in, and saw Laura by Matthew's bedside, gently wiping his mouth. Matthew didn't push her away; he looked at Laura warmly. The atmosphere was cozy and intimate.

This scene hurt Mary. She interrupted, "Is it a bad time? Interrupting your little affair?"

Laura frowned. "Ms. Smith, why so harsh? Matthew and I aren't like that."

Matthew's gaze turned cold. "Apologize to Laura."

Mary replied, "Can I scold her first? Just apologizing feels wrong."

"Mary!" Matthew's voice was stern.

Mary walked over calmly. "Not so loud, I can hear you."

She slapped the divorce papers on him. "Matthew, why did you refuse to divorce me before when I wanted it so much? And now you suddenly agree?"

In the morning, when Michael brought up the divorce agreement, she wanted to ask him about it. What was he thinking?

Laura looked at Matthew with concern. "Matthew, are you okay?"

"I'm fine," Matthew said lightly.

Laura turned to Mary. "Ms. Smith, Matthew hasn't wronged you. You poisoned him, and he didn't hold you accountable. What's with your attitude?"
