Chapter 424 Unwillingness
Matthew shot her a dark look. "Fine, let him come find me."
Laura's tears stopped instantly.
Matthew really seemed like he didn't give a damn anymore!
Laura felt a wave of bitterness. She'd sacrificed a leg, and this was what she got?
How could she be okay with that?
Just then, there was a knock on the door. "Ms. Griffin."
It was Laura's butler, carrying a box as he walked in.
Laura said, "This is the birthday gift Samuel gave me. I've always kept it and never opened it."
The butler handed the box to Matthew.
Matthew opened it and found a music box inside.
It was delicate and pretty, definitely something a girl would like.
He got up and left.
Laura watched him go, her face darkening. She pulled out her phone and dialed a number.
"What should I do? Matthew doesn't want to see me or talk to me at all. How can I marry him like this?" she asked.
The person on the other end said, "Just sleep with him. Your goal isn't to marry him anyway."
Laura gritted her teeth. "But I can't find an opportunity."
The other person chuckled. "Take it slow; there'll be a chance."
Maria gave Mary a day off.
Mary went straight home. The butler saw the bandage on her neck and asked, "What happened to you?"
Mary smiled slightly. "It's nothing, just a small injury."
The butler said, "Be careful not to let it get infected."
"Okay, I will," Mary replied and went upstairs.
As soon as she entered her bedroom, her phone rang. She saw it was an unfamiliar number.
She hesitated for a moment and answered, "Hello?"
"Hello, your death is near. Are you excited?" Roy said.
Mary's grip tightened on the phone, but she didn't hang up. "Why do you want to kill me? What did I ever do to you?"
Roy laughed darkly. "Bitch, you actually forgot. I've suffered for ten years, and you forgot everything!"
Mary frowned. "So, what exactly did I do to offend you?"
Roy said, "I'll tell you when you die. Don't worry, it won't be long."
Mary fell silent, thinking Roy must be crazy. She hung up, feeling helpless.
As she changed clothes and was about to rest, Shirley called.
"Mary, are you free tonight?" Shirley's voice sounded flat.
Mary asked, "Yeah, what's up?"
Shirley said, "Come out for dinner and cheer me up."
Mary couldn't help but laugh. "With your strength, I can't imagine anyone could ever hurt you."
Shirley said, "Who else? That jerk Herman!"
Mary paused. "Is he giving you trouble again?"
Shirley said, "Let's talk about it tonight, okay? Let's meet at No. 9 Club. I heard they have some pretty good-looking college guys there."
Mary fell silent.
It seemed that Shirley needed some college guys to cheer her up.
"Alright." Mary agreed.
By the time they met, it was already dark outside.
Mary entered No. 9 Club and went straight to the private room.
As she stepped out of the elevator, someone walked past her. She didn't pay much attention, but the person quickly turned back, looking at her with surprise. "Miss, you're here. Are you feeling better?"
Mary looked at him, confused, feeling like he looked somewhat familiar.
Shirley leaned over and asked, "What's going on? Are you having an affair?"
