Chapter 383 Not in a Hurry at All

Maria dropped her phone and started watching Mary work, resting her chin on her hand.

She couldn't help but think, 'Mary is really good-looking!'

After a bit, Maria picked up her phone and ordered some takeout.

Mary was still mulling over lunch options, but as soon as break time hit, the takeout arrived.

Maria stepped out of the office with a grin. "Lunch is on me. It's a tradition here to treat new employees for three days."

Mary chuckled, "What if your studio goes public someday? You'll go broke treating everyone!"

Maria shrugged. "We'll cross that bridge when we get there. For now, it's tradition!"

"Ms. Diaz is the best!"

"This tradition should never end!"

Three other newbies exclaimed, who had joined in the past couple of days.

One was another architectural designer like Mary, while the other two were a liaison and a fresh college grad who studied architecture but hadn't picked a role yet.

Maria kept her on, letting her decide her position after a three-month internship. It almost seemed like Maria had started the studio just for fun.

Mary just nodded slightly. "Thanks, Ms. Diaz."

Maria swayed her hips as she said, "Take your time eating, and rest a bit after. I'm heading out."

"Okay," everyone chimed in together.

Mary opened her takeout box and started eating.

Just then, another designer, Cynthia Young, walked over with her takeout. "Getting used to it here?"

Mary nodded. "It's pretty good."

Cynthia sighed, "Maybe because we're new, we don't have any projects yet. I've been twiddling my thumbs for two days."

Mary glanced at her. "You can reach out on your own. It's normal for a new studio."

Cynthia nodded. "Okay, I'll look for some. What about you? Any ideas?"

She paused and added, "Why'd you leave the DK Group?"

Mary's face turned neutral. "Sorry, that's personal."

Cynthia pouted. "It's just DK Group, what's the big deal?" She muttered and went back to her desk.

Mary didn't let it bother her. After finishing her meal, she got back to work.

Designing needed inspiration, and sometimes she'd scrap a drawing if it didn't feel right.

Just as she was planning to sketch a bit more before leaving, Maria came over. "Time to go home. We don't do overtime here. Everyone should go home and rest."

"Alright, we're heading out then," the others said, getting up.

Seeing Mary still working, Maria walked over and blocked her computer. "Work will always be there. Take it easy."

Mary looked at her. "Why are you so chill about this?"

Usually, new studios were eager to sign projects and make money to keep going.

Maria smiled. "I told you, work can't be finished in one day. If I made you work 24 hours straight, could you finish the drawings?"

Mary raised an eyebrow. "True."

Maria said, "Alright, go home. I got a date."

Mary nodded and shut down her computer.
