Chapter 310 Even Jealous of Their Own Child
After she finished talking, she was about to hop out of the car.
But the door was locked, and Matthew didn't unlock it right away.
She shot him a confused look, thinking, 'Aren't we supposed to visit Victoria? So why isn't he getting out?'
Matthew's eyes, all dark and intense, locked onto her. His voice was deep and magnetic, "Mary, how can you be so heartless?"
Mary looked at him, puzzled. "Me?"
She thought to herself, 'Isn't he the one who's always been heartless?'
Then, silence.
Matthew just stared at her, and after what felt like forever, he said, "When we go in, don't say those things in front of my grandma. You know she's not in great shape; she can't handle the stress."
Mary nodded, "I know."
She thought, 'I ain't that dumb.'
Finally, Matthew unlocked the car door and got out first.
Mary watched him walk away, feeling a bit dazed, then she gave a bitter smile. After getting out of the car, she pulled herself together.
They walked into the villa's living room one after the other.
Victoria was sitting in a wheelchair, with a servant by her side, her eyes occasionally darting to the door, waiting for them.
Seeing Matthew and Mary come in, she immediately lit up with a big smile.
"Matthew, you're finally here!"
Matthew walked over and asked, "Grandma, how have you been feeling lately?"
Victoria smiled and said, "Mary, come over here and let me see you. You look a little thin. ."
Matthew, feeling ignored, stayed quiet.
He finally realized that as long as Mary was around, he was invisible.
The person Victoria truly missed had always been Mary.
Mary smiled and said, "Grandma, I'm doing well. Just trying to stay in shape."
Victoria shook her head disapprovingly and said, "You're already beautiful, you don't need to lose weight. If you keep losing weight, it'll be harder to get pregnant. I still want to hold my great-grandchild. When are you going to make that happen for me?"
Her wrinkled face was full of hope, her eyes sparkling like a kid's.
Mary's smile froze, and Matthew said, "Grandma, you don't care about me at all. Once you have a great-grandchild, you'll like me even less. Maybe I shouldn't have one."
"Are you jealous of your own kid? What kind of father are you? You must have a child. I want to play with my great-grandchild!" Victoria waved her hand, clearly not liking what Matthew said.
Matthew smiled helplessly.
Mary said, "Grandma, it's nice today. How about we take a walk in the garden?"
"Sure, let's go for a walk. I love walking with you." Victoria nodded without hesitation.
Mary then pushed the wheelchair out of the villa.
Matthew didn't follow them; he headed straight upstairs to the study.
Linda happened to come out and, seeing him, smiled, "Matthew, you're back. Your dad was just talking about you. You should go in."
"Okay," Matthew responded lightly.
The atmosphere in the study was heavy.
Richard was sitting in a leather chair, wearing glasses and reading some documents.
"Dad, did you need something?" Matthew walked in and asked calmly.
Richard handed him the document he was holding. "Take a look at this."
Matthew reached out to take it, glanced at it, and his brows immediately furrowed. "Is this Samuel's handwriting?"
