Chapter 448 Put in Some Effort

Matthew drove straight back to Montagu Mansion.

Mary was speechless.

Matthew's talk about shopping was all a lie.

She got out of the car without a word and walked inside.

Matthew grabbed her arm. "Where are you going?"

Mary sighed, "It's late; time to rest."

Matthew shrugged, "It doesn't hurt to rest late."

He led her to another part of the mansion.

Montagu Mansion was huge, with many places Mary had never seen. They arrived at a door, and Matthew pushed it open, revealing a room filled with various collections.

Mary was a bit surprised. "What are these?"

Matthew said, "They're my collection. Pick one to give to Grandma."

Mary walked over, looking at the glass cabinets filled with items, lights shining down on them.

The room had all kinds of jewelry and accessories, each with a price tag.

Some were bought, others acquired through auctions.

Each one was crazy expensive!

Mary couldn't help but be amazed at their prices.

It was mind-blowing!

Matthew stood at the door and said, "Pick the one you like, and transfer the money to my account."

Mary looked at him in astonishment. "You're selling them to me?"

Matthew raised an eyebrow, "What else?"

Mary's mouth twitched; she thought he was letting her choose freely as a gift.

Luckily, she didn't say it out loud.

She couldn't afford any of those items.

Matthew, with one hand in his pocket, walked in, glanced around, and finally fixed his gaze on a diamond tiara. "This one is nice; Grandma will like it."

Mary glanced at the price of the tiara, thirty-eight million dollars.

Luckily, she happened to have thirty-eight million dollars.

So, he was recommending the gift based on the money she had?

Mary sneered, "Matthew, you really are a businessman."

Matthew's handsome face remained calm, his beautiful eyes gazing at her with a smile. "There's another way to get what you want: put in some effort rather than paying for it."

Mary frowned, puzzled. "What do you mean by effort?"

Matthew leaned in, eyes locked on hers. "Sleep with me, and you can have anything you want without spending a dime."

Mary's expression turned cold immediately.

She turned and walked away.

Matthew raised an eyebrow. "Don't you want to consider such a good deal?"

Mary replied coldly, "I think as long as it's something I give to Grandma, she will like it."

Matthew sneered but said nothing, nor did he deny it.

Victoria's fondness for Mary was something he still couldn't understand.

Mary didn't buy anything but made an amulet herself.

For elderly people, nothing was more important than safety.

On the day of Victoria's birthday party, Matthew had a styling team come to Montagu Mansion to style Mary.

This time, she was attending as Matthew's wife, making her debut in Lindwood City's elite circle.

Mary was actually unwilling, knowing that in the future, when she divorced Matthew, people would recognize her wherever she went, causing her endless trouble.

Matthew insisted on it. She looked at her increasingly refined reflection in the mirror, but her eyes remained cold.

Two hours later, Matthew drove back and saw her walking down the stairs step by step, his eyes instantly darkened.

Mary could feel it but directly ignored it.

He had been very gentle in the past two days, but she no longer needed it.
