Chapter 735 Send Me Away and Give Me Five Million Dollars

"Alright," David agreed.

Mary didn't waste any time and set off immediately.

The night was deep as she drove away from Maple Grove Manor.

The bodyguard who had been secretly protecting Mary quickly informed Matthew about the situation.

Matthew was sitting in his study, listening to the report. His expression paused for a moment before he said, "Send more people to follow her."

The bodyguard replied, "Yes, Mr. Montagu. What about you?"

A faint smile curved on Matthew's lips as he said, "I need to attend the court."

The bodyguard was speechless.

Matthew was truly a master strategist.

Driving from Lindwood City to Lindenville took nearly seven hours. Mary barely slept the entire night, and by the time she reached the orphanage, it was already daylight.

She knocked on the orphanage door, and soon David came over. Seeing her exhausted face, he asked, "You look so worn out. Come in quickly."

Mary's head was pounding, and she felt terrible, but time was of the essence. She needed to see Barbara immediately.

"Where is she?" Mary asked.

David replied, "Inside. I hid her in a storage room. No one has come looking for her yet."

With that, he led Mary towards the storage room.

As the door opened, the sound of coughing came from inside. The room was filled with the orphanage's miscellaneous items, and Barbara was lying on a makeshift bed.

Seeing someone enter, Barbara squinted her eyes. "It's you!"

The moment she recognized Mary, Barbara became agitated. "You're here to save me, right?"

Mary walked up to her, her brows slightly furrowed.

Barbara had changed a lot since their last meeting.

She was much thinner, and her wrinkles were more pronounced, indicating she hadn't been doing well.

"Who took you from the police station?" Mary asked directly.

She had initially intended for Barbara to suffer a bit in the police station, but someone had secretly taken her away.

Who was that person?

Why did they take Barbara?

What secret were they hiding?

Barbara's eyes shifted, and she coughed twice before saying, "If you want to know, you have to promise me something."

Mary's brows knitted together.

David said, "Ms. Inome, just tell us what you know. Who did you offend? Someone came looking for you, and I turned them away."

"Someone's looking for me?" Barbara's face turned tense. "So soon? They've caught up so quickly? No, I can't be caught. I'll die if I'm caught. I'll definitely die."

Barbara muttered to herself for a while before suddenly grabbing Mary's hand with great force. "Mary, you want to know who your biological parents are, right? I'll tell you, but you have to get me out of here and give me five million dollars. Once I'm safe, I'll tell you everything I know!"

Barbara's grip on Mary's hand was strong, as if she was holding onto her last hope.

Mary pulled her hand back and said calmly, "You know me. I haven't looked for my biological parents all these years because I'm not interested in them. I came to see you just to ask in passing. If you don't want to talk, then forget it."

With that, Mary turned to David. "Didn't you say someone was looking for her? Send her out."

David was surprised. "Mary, are you serious?"

"No!" Barbara said, shaking her head frantically. "No, you can't do this. Your biological parents are wealthy. Someone has taken your place. Aren't you angry about that?"
