Chapter 211 Why Don't He Want Her?
The orphanage had a lot of kids whose parents left them.
When Mary was young, she always wondered if her parents had abandoned her too.
If they had her, why didn't they want her?
So, she never thought about finding her biological parents.
Robert saw her lost in thought and said, "Maybe something happened to your family, or maybe someone took you. Anything's possible. Do you want to find them?"
Mary replied, "I haven't decided yet."
Robert advised, "Take your time. When you decide, let me know, and I'll help you."
Mary felt touched. "Robert, why are you so good to me?"
Robert saw the familiar look of respect and admiration in her eyes. He choked up a bit and said, "Because I'm your friend."
Mary smiled slightly. "Thanks, I'll think about it."
"Okay."
Robert didn't want to continue the topic.
Why did Mary only look at him with respect and admiration now?
He remembered the first time she saw him, her eyes full of amazement.. 'Why isn't it like that anymore?' Robert pondered.
It was noon, and Mary made lunch. Robert didn't refuse and left after eating.
Mary sat on the couch and called Shirley.
"Hello?"
Shirley's faint voice came through.
Mary asked, "Is it a bad time to talk?"
Shirley said, "No, I just don't want him to hear my voice and call me again."
Mary felt a bit of sympathy for Shirley.
She said, "I sold the house at Maple Grove Manor."
Shirley was stunned, "So fast? How much?"
Mary said, "Forty million dollars."
Shirley got excited, "Wow, Mary, you're rich now!"
Mary said, "I'm also planning to sell my old house and leave Lindwood City."
"What? You're leaving Lindwood City?"
Shirley was shocked, her voice rising.
She quickly covered her mouth and checked the bedroom. Seeing no movement from Herman, she lowered her voice, "Mary, what happened?"
Mary said, "Nothing, I just realized I'm all alone, nothing holding me back."
Shirley said, "You finally figured it out. I support you!"
Mary said, "When you're done, come over for dinner, but don't be too late. I might have sold this house by then."
Shirley said, "If things go well, it should be done in a week."
"Okay."
A smile appeared on Shirley's face after ending the call. She was happy Mary had figured it out!
She put her phone away and hummed a song as she went to the kitchen.
Meanwhile, Herman stood against the wall, having heard everything.
Herman pondered, 'Leaving Lindwood City? Who?'
Herman went back to the bedroom and called Matthew.
"Hello?"
Matthew's cold voice came through.
Hearing this tone, Herman knew Matthew was in a bad mood, probably because of Mary.
"Let me guess, is it because Mary left you unsatisfied?" Herman joked.
Matthew said, "Get lost."
He was about to hang up.
Herman said slowly, "Mary is leaving Lindwood City."
He wasn't sure, but he said it anyway to provoke Matthew.
"What did you say?"
Matthew's tone got even colder, the chill seemed to come through the phone, directly hitting Herman.
