She reached out and pressed the elevator's close button. The doors slowly shut, cutting off Matthew's strikingly handsome face.
Mary let out a barely noticeable sigh of relief.

When she got home, she found Shirley sitting on the couch in the living room, watching TV.

"What happened? How did you catch a cold? Did you get chilled? Wait here, I'll make you some ginger tea."

She seriously suspected Shirley was overly excited from her relationship with Herman!
She walked to the kitchen and saw Shirley clumsily slicing ginger.
Mary shook her head helplessly. "I'm almost better, no need for ginger tea. You can stop."
Shirley turned to her, "Really?"
Mary raised her hand. "Look, the needle mark is still there."
Shirley immediately put down the knife. "Then I won't force you to drink my ginger tea. Tell me, what happened on your trip?"
So she had been waiting to hear the latest gossip!
Mary sat on the couch and recounted everything that had happened.
"What!" Shirley stood up in shock. "Your parents are the Coopers, the richest family in Diamond Ridge?"
Mary nodded. "Yes."
Although they hadn't done a DNA test yet, it was almost certain.
Shirley was stunned. "So you're a rich heiress! My future happiness depends on you!"
She immediately put on a fawning smile, making Mary's goosebumps rise again.
Mary kept a straight face. "Act normal."
Shirley saluted. "Yes, ma'am!"
Mary sighed. "It's not that simple. I haven't decided if I want to acknowledge them yet."
First, she needed to determine what role the Cooper family played in the orphanage fire.
Then, she would consider everything else.
Shirley said, "You have to acknowledge them, no matter what the Cooper family's attitude is. You need to take back your rightful place. Why should that imposter enjoy your life? If the Coopers want a fake, then make it public. Let everyone lose face together!"
Mary couldn't help but laugh. "That crazy?"
Shirley looked serious. "In this world, there aren't many sane people left. If you can't beat them, join them. If they're crazy, be crazier!"
