Chapter 502 Victoria's Invitation
Matthew's proposal had been on Mary's mind for three days, but she hadn't come to any conclusion.
That afternoon, she received a call from Victoria.
Mary was quite surprised and immediately asked, "What's the matter?"
Victoria's aged voice came through, "What? Just because you're divorced, you won't come to see me? I admit I was harsh before, and there are some things I don't remember. Matthew told me everything, and I realize I wronged you."
Mary was even more astonished. The proud Victoria was apologizing to her?
How incredible.
However, since Victoria was a patient, Mary couldn't hold a grudge.
"I've been busy with work. I'll find some time to visit you."
Victoria replied, "Come over now. I'll send someone to pick you up. There are many things I don't understand, and I want you to explain them to me."
Mary instinctively frowned, "But..."
Victoria interrupted, "Do I have to invite you personally?"
Mary felt a bit pressured. The current Victoria was different from when she was ill.
Mary could only agree, "Alright."
After hanging up, Mary sat at her desk, a bit dazed.
She felt that things weren't that simple.
Why was Victoria looking for her after all these days?
She got up and went to the office to ask Maria for leave.
Maria was surprised and asked, "Is something wrong? There's a dinner tonight, and I wanted you to come with me."
Mary nodded, "Yes, I have something to do at the hospital."
Maria's expression immediately became serious, "Are you feeling unwell?"
Mary shook her head, "It's not me. I'm going to visit a friend."
Maria relaxed again, "Good, as long as it's not you. Go ahead then. I'll take Sean to the dinner."
When she mentioned Sean, a playful smile appeared on her face.
Mary hesitated for a moment and asked, "Maria, about Sean..."
"What?" Maria raised an eyebrow, looking at her in confusion.
Mary said, "His situation is special. If possible, let him focus on designing and earning performance."
Dinners and such, he could skip.
She had tried to be as tactful as possible, but Maria seemed not to notice, smiling and saying, "Yes, he's met quite a few clients recently. It shows that taking him to various dinners has been effective."
Mary remained silent.
Leaving the office, she looked at Sean. She didn't know if it was her imagination, but he seemed to have become much more haggard.
Sean got up to get some water. Seeing her looking at him, he was slightly stunned, then smiled, "Mary, what's up?"
Mary asked, "How have you been lately?"
Sean smiled and said, "I've signed several contracts, been drawing daily, and am finally finding my rhythm again."
Mary nodded, "That's good."
Just as she was about to continue, her phone rang. It was the driver sent by Victoria.
Mary said, "I have to go. Take care of yourself."
Sean nodded seriously, "I will."
Watching Mary leave, Sean reluctantly withdrew his gaze.
After a long drive through the city, Mary finally arrived at the hospital.
As she walked through the main entrance and navigated the hallways, she noticed bodyguards standing at the door of a particular ward.
Did a hospital owned by the Montagu Group still require bodyguards?
The doubt flashed through her mind, but Mary didn't dwell on it. She pushed the door open and entered the ward.
