Chapter 484 Not Going Back to Montagu Mansion
Laura strolled towards the office, lunchbox in hand.
Michael quickly said, "Ms. Griffin, there's a guest inside. Maybe you should wait a bit before going in?"
Laura noticed the hesitation in his eyes and raised an eyebrow. "It's already noon. Who else could be here?"
Ignoring his warning, she headed straight for the office.
Michael watched her go but didn't try to stop her.
Laura pushed open the office door and walked in. She immediately saw a woman standing close to Matthew, chatting with him. They looked way too cozy.
Anger flared up in Laura's eyes. "Matthew, who is she?"
Matthew glanced at her, his expression unreadable. "Did you knock?"
Laura tightened her grip on the lunchbox and stepped forward. "Matthew, don't forget what Mrs. Montagu said."
Matthew turned to Jessica and said, "Have a seat."
Jessica noticed Laura's hostility and raised an eyebrow. She knew about Laura.
Matthew had once considered divorcing Mary for her. So, this was the infamous Laura? Not impressive at all.
In Jessica's eyes, Laura was no match for Mary. Not that she thought much of Mary either.
Matthew's gaze was cold. "Grandma said a lot of things. Which one are you talking about?"
Laura was fuming but knew she couldn't lose her temper in front of Matthew. She had already barged in impulsively; she needed to regain her composure.
"Sorry, Matthew, I didn't mean anything by it. I'm just worried about Mrs. Montagu's health. I brought you lunch, all your favorite dishes."
She placed the lunchbox on the desk.
Matthew suddenly looked at Jessica. "Hungry?"
Jessica smiled. "A little bit."
Matthew said, "Then let's eat together."
Jessica was surprised. "Isn't that inappropriate? This is a kind gesture from this lady."
Matthew handed her the utensils. "Food is meant to be eaten. What's inappropriate about it?"
Jessica took the utensils. "Then I'll accept it."
Laura stood there, feeling like a servant, completely ignored by Matthew.
She had thought that with Matthew and Mary's divorce, she would have a chance.
But now, this woman had appeared out of nowhere. Who was she? Why was she so close to Matthew?
Laura had a million questions but felt she had no right to ask them. Matthew had never acknowledged her status.
"My hand hurts a bit," Jessica suddenly said.
"Still hurts after all this time?" Matthew took her wrist and examined it carefully.
The scene deeply hurt Laura.
Forcing a smile, Laura said, "Matthew, I have something to do, so I'll leave first."
She hurried out, afraid that if she stayed any longer, she'd lose her temper and do something drastic.
Laura thought to herself, 'That bitch! Seducing my man, I will make sure she meets a terrible end!'
In the evening, Mary clocked out of work.
As she walked out of the building, she saw a familiar car in the distance. She paused for a moment, then walked over.
The car window rolled down, revealing Matthew's handsome face. He looked at her.
Mary said, "We're already divorced. I'm not going back to Montagu Mansion tonight."
