Chapter 690 A Familiar Scene
Under Mary's expectant gaze, Matthew picked up the divorce papers and tore them to shreds.
Mary's face showed visible disappointment, with a hint of regret. "You know, it costs a lot of money to make copies of this thing."
She looked at him disapprovingly. "If you don't want to sign, you could've just handed it back to me."
Matthew was speechless.
He stared at her expressionlessly, then watched as she pulled another set of divorce papers from her bag.
"Will you sign this one?"
Her clear almond-shaped eyes looked at him.
Matthew's mouth twitched slightly. "How many copies of this document do you have?"
Mary replied, "Not too many, just a few hundred."
Matthew fell silent.
He even felt like this scene was oddly familiar, as if it had happened before.
Mary sighed softly. "Wouldn't it be great if you just signed? Then we wouldn't have to keep going through this."
Matthew ignored her and asked directly, "Where's the lunchbox?"
Mary handed it to him.
Matthew started dining without a word.
Mary gathered the shredded paper and threw it in the trash, then sat down beside him, chattering about the benefits of divorce.
She said these things every time she came over.
At first, Matthew would frown in annoyance but never drove her away. It seemed as long as she stayed, she could say whatever she wanted.
Gradually, he got used to her nagging, and his mindset became increasingly calm.
Mary stared at his handsome profile and suddenly said, "Matthew, if I fell in love with someone else, would you agree to the divorce?"
Matthew paused. "Who did you fall in love with?"
If not Robert, then it must be Sean?
Did she really fall for Sean?
Matthew tightened his grip on his utensils and his expression turned cold. He struggled to control his emotions.
Mary said, "Just answer the question."
"No." Matthew replied coolly. "If you cheat during our marriage, I can make you compensate for my losses. The money you have wouldn't be enough."
Mary was speechless and rolled her eyes.
He really had a way to deal with her.
He was even eyeing her money now!
That was her capital for starting over. She couldn't let him get his hands on it!
The room fell silent.
Just then, her phone rang. She looked at the caller ID—it was Shirley.
Mary answered the call.
Shirley said, "Mary, you need to come back. That guy from before showed up again, and it looks like he's lost his memory. He's just standing at the entrance of the complex, looking pitiful like a little puppy."
Mary frowned and stood up. "Okay, I'm coming back now."
Shirley added, "Hurry back and bring another guy home to piss off that jerk Matthew."
Mary didn't waste time with more words. She hung up and left without giving Matthew another glance.
The food in front of him was delicious, but Matthew had lost his appetite.
She really did fall for Sean.
Otherwise, she wouldn't have asked that.
Thinking of the useless Sean, Matthew frowned in disgust. How could she be interested in Sean?
He called Maria.
As soon as the call connected, he asked coldly, "Did you fire Sean?"
Maria replied, "Mr. Montagu, if I remember correctly, I already refused your request before."
