Chapter 729 If I Say I'm Not Going, Then I'm Not Going

Sean's temple throbbed with frustration as he turned and walked away.

Maria chuckled softly, watching him leave.

Mary got busy right away. The next day, she visited Kurt's plot of land. Surrounded by vineyards, it was indeed a perfect spot for a winery.

Kurt's main goal was to create a vacation winery, a playground for the elite, so every detail was meticulously planned.

After getting a general understanding of the terrain and Kurt's vision, Mary returned to her studio and began working tirelessly on the designs.

Just as she finished the initial draft, Ollie called to inform her that the court date was set for a week later.

At the same time, Matthew received the court notice.

Matthew was dining with a group of business partners at No. 9 Club when he got the call.

After hanging up, his strikingly handsome face remained impassive, a cigarette between his fingers. The people around him spoke cautiously, gauging his mood.

"Y'all keep going. I gotta bounce," Matthew said abruptly, standing up and grabbing his coat before exiting the private room.

The wind outside was chilly, with snowflakes beginning to fall.

Matthew got into his car and instructed the driver, "To Maple Grove Manor."

"Yes, sir."

As the car drove through the darkening streets, snowflakes swirled down, like Matthew's frosty mood.

Mary had just come up from the underground parking garage when the elevator doors opened, and Matthew's tall figure, exuding a cold aura, stepped in.

She paused, then reached out to press the close button.

"You got the notice, right?" Mary asked in the quiet elevator.

"What notice?" Matthew feigned ignorance.

Mary glanced at him. "The court notice."

"No," Matthew replied coolly.

Mary was silent for a moment before telling him the court date.

Matthew shoved his hands into his coat pockets, his demeanor becoming more nonchalant. "I'm not going."

Mary was speechless.

The court date was set, but it was up to Matthew whether he showed up or not.

If he refused to appear, the court couldn't proceed.

They were at an impasse again.

Mary frowned and asked, "Matthew, you..."

Matthew cut her off. "You don't need to say it. I've heard it all before. I said I'm not going, and I'm not going."

Mary was at a loss for words.

The elevator fell into silence.

Soon, the doors opened, and Matthew walked out.

Mary was left unsure of what to do.

When the elevator reached her floor, she was surprised to see Matthew standing at her door.

"What are you doing here?" Mary asked warily.

Matthew replied, "My stance is clear. We can't get divorced. Why don't you drop the case? We can stay as we are. What do you think?"

A coldness crept into Mary's gentle features. "I'm not dropping the case. If it doesn't work the first time, I'll try again. And again. I will divorce you."

The determination in her eyes shocked Matthew, followed by a wave of bitterness.

"Mary," Matthew called her name, a hint of desolation in his handsome face.

"Do we really have to get divorced?"

Mary was about to nod, but something in Matthew's expression made her hesitate. The words she wanted to say wouldn't come out.

She felt a twinge of self-loathing and said, "This isn't working for either of us."
