Chapter 260 The Relationship is Strained

Matthew watched her, raising an eyebrow. He noticed her face turning red.

A flicker of interest showed in his deep eyes. He stayed put, just watching her.

Mary dressed him, but when she was threading the belt, she accidentally touched a sensitive part of his body..

Matthew grabbed her wrist and asked, "Mary, did you do that on purpose?"

Mary, blushing, tried to stay calm. "It's your lack of willpower, and you blame me?"

Matthew stared at her for a moment before letting go. "Continue."

Mary's eyelashes trembled as she fastened the belt. Once done, she turned away, relieved.

She thought, 'Finally done.'

But knowing she'd have to care for him for days, she frowned.

Just then, there was a knock on the door.

Mary opened it to find room service. She stepped aside to let him in.

The waiter set the breakfast on the table and left.

Mary ignored Matthew and started eating.

Matthew joined her, sitting down next to her.

They ate in silence until Mary's phone rang. It was a message from David.

David: [Mary, I'm discharged from the hospital.]

Mary didn't reply.

Meanwhile, at the hospital.

Barbara looked at David's bruised face, clearly upset. "Why did you provoke Peter? You know he's connected. How will you stay in Lindenville now?"

David replied, "He was bullying Mary. I couldn't just watch."

Barbara's eyes flickered. "You got hurt because of Mary?"

David didn't answer, but it was clear.

Barbara said, "Invite Mary to the orphanage. Don't say it's from me, or she won't come."

David was surprised. "Ms. Inome, are you serious?"

He knew Barbara's attitude towards Mary and had tried to mend their relationship, but Mary strongly disliked Barbara.

Now, Barbara was willing to get along with Mary. That was great!

Barbara said, "You're like a son to me. I see your feelings. You saved her. If you two can be together, I'd be happy."

David looked uneasy. "Ms. Inome, it's not what you think. I don't..."

Barbara patted him. "Liking someone isn't a crime. Admit it."

David continued, "It's not that, she..."

Barbara cut him off. "It's settled. I'm accepting her because of you. Don't be ungrateful!"

She picked up David's things and left.

David wanted to say more, but Barbara was already gone.

He did like Mary. He had tried to win her over, but she was married!

However, from what he had seen, her relationship with her husband seemed strained.
